so it's finally up and running:
http://www.forgetphotography.com/blog
Not without some trouble though. Here are my problems so far:
1) I've got no idea how to upgrade to pp 1.5. I've downloaded the zip- now what
2) The website design (forgetphotography.com) is not fully w3c compliant - how important is it that it is?
and
3) everyone else seems to think my rss feed works fine; photoblogs.org thought so too. But when I try to add it to my firefox navigation bar i get the 'live bookmark failed to load' message. What could be going wrong?
... thanks to everyone at pixelpost for putting the project together - without it, my photoblog would never see the light of your computer screens ;)

A)
1) unzip the zip of course!
2) there is a folder /doc
3) o wonder, there is a file called ReadMe_upgrade.txt
4) read this!
I think the first question is answered - if something is unclear, come back here!
B)
it is in my opinion and in the opinion of many internetservices important to have valid pages... better for search engine, better for photoblogs.org etc.
the rest of the questions I leave to the other forum users because they are all so eager to assist ;=)

On the RSS problem: strange, everything works just fine here in Firefox. Failed to load can also mean no contact with the server.
On the W3C compliant question I strongly agree with Connie. I think it is important to serve valid HTML or XHTML
I can not see your RSS in Safari, because of an "unknown error".
Go here to check your code!

tried to clean up the code a bit today in the hope that this could solve the problem. No luck :-(
I'm talking about the RSS feed for my blog, which is here
http://www.forgetphotography.com/blog/index.php?x=rss
feedburner and photoblogs.org read it ok and so do other rss programmes apparently. But my firefox version (1.5.06) won't read it.
What could be wrong? any ideas?
For me its fine (1.5.0.7). If you open the link directly and there is no error info in FF it means that all must be OK.

i installed firefox 2.0 in the hope that the problem will just solve itself but nope - it just got worse: it seems like rss has completely disappeared:
http://forgetphotography.com/index.php?x=rss
what could be wrong?
Try to reupload all PP files.

just tried to re-upload index.php and the blog crashes alltogether. Mozilla's sage plugin still reads the feed fine but when i click to the rss link directly i'm forwarded to this page
http://www.bloglines.com/login?r=/sub/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.forgetphotography.com%2Fblog%2Fin dex.php%3Fx%3Drss
why could this be happening?
Plus the feedburner feed also forwards to this address
http://www.bloglines.com/login?r=/sub/http%3A%2F%2Ffeeds.feedburner.com%2FForgetphotogra phy
