I'm not sure if anyone else is having this issue or if it has something to do with the way php works.

I put the name of the city in which my photographs are shot in all of my text/description fields. I also have it in the XMP data. I thought my photos would show up when I do a Google or Yahoo image search for those towns. However, none of my pixelpost blog photos show up in searches.

Is there a reason for this or should I be doing something different?

I did look through the Wiki and did a search through the forums for a similar topic so please forgive me if this has been answered.

thanks!

Try creating a google sitemap and submitting it to google

how long has it been? and how many things link to your site?

I created a site map over 6 months ago and linked it to Google.

I have had my site up for 2 years.

I always put the name of the city, state, or country into the description of the photo. Always. However, that doesn't get picked up by search engines.

I'm just curious if this is something other people have noticed or not. And if so, how it can be resolved. My photos don't turn up in image searches and I found that to be a bit odd.

many of my pages are listed in google
maybe the places are not specific enough?

but it's known that some search engines don't like dynamic URLs

you could try with Geo's URL-searchengine-friendly ADDON which changes URLS from index.php?x=kljsfjkdl&y=ldösfkldfsk to URLS like /yyyy/mm/dd/imagenumber or so

Thanks for your suggestion, Connie. The names are very specific: Flagstaff, Arizona, for instance. It's as specific as you can get for a place name.

How are you searching for your images?

Funny but this question was also brought up on Photoblogs.org today, as well. So I know I'm not the only person having this issue.

google and others are getting stranger and stranger over what the pick up with their spiders. are they picking up your site at all? if they simply seem to be ignoring certain words in your text i find it is a good idea to link to these pages with that word... for example, use them as categories and list them all on on page. msn especially seems to pick up on links, especially external links... rather than the actual content.

at least, that seems to be what i noticed... perhaps i'm wrong.

Thanks, Joe[y]. That looks exactly like what I'll need to do for it to pick it all up.

I appreciate the time you all took to respond.
