Yeah, I have been working from the nightly builds from an early stage. But it has improved and in my opinion it's still better then IE7

True. From some time there was FF 2.0 RC3 which IMHO is the same as final version.
IMHO Its much better then IE7 (as its progress was pretty small as for so much time for implementation of new stuff).

FF rulez. install time 2 mins.

IE7 (at work) install time about 30 mins incl. two! reboots.

i dont like the way it looks on a mac. 1.5 looks more simple etc.. which is what i like. i'll wait until the final release - i uninstalled it and replaced it with 1.5 about a week ago - the search improvement isn't a big deal for me.

Joey - it is right now final version - just 2.0 (no RC, no night build, ...).

ive been a long time firefox user, since early releases for testing before it was every a big deal...this is by far their best work to date

although it has some very slow start up times on a mac. give it a race with camino for example... camino will be up before firefox has finished it's first little bounce in the dock.

firefox 2.0 is a fraction slower on my machine, but none compare to safari...

but, i never close my browser so it never has to startup :)

I have been using Firefox for a long time. It is my main browser, next to Safari. I am not a big friend of FFs design. Compared with IE for Windows it might be great, but I am using a Mac.

Two improvements I can think of in the FF2: Managing search engines and smaller icons in the navigation bar.

-----

Edit:

After using firefox 2 for some time now I must say that it is extremely unreliable on osx. It crashes once a day.
Anybody else having this problem?

Are you using Tiger? I'm not, I think my work computer might be 10.4. I blame that for the browser crashes, that and all the crap people junk up their blogs with causing a desperately long load time on an old computer behind a proxy.

its crashed a few times for me, no more or no less than safari and many times its the coding in the website that causes my browser to hang up

Yes, having said what I did I forgot to mention, FF2.0 has actually crashed far fewer times than FF1.5 did on the crap computer at work. On my home computer (linux Ubuntu) it's been sweet.

As I said, It stops working at least once a day. I am using Tiger with the latest patch from Apple. Firefox 1.5 never caused any problems and Safari is stable. I am thinking about downgrading FF.

How annoying! I would definitely do something, whether it be downgrading or maybe writing to the Mozilla people first.
