Please Help

I am getting 1000s of spam comments every day. I am not sure what to do. My blog has been inactive for quite a while and I ignored it earlier, however, as I will start actively posting now, I need to get rid of this spam problem.
I am hammered by more than 2K spams a day...
BTW...My host just upgraded to 1.5 final, so atleast they are not visible on the site, but it is a pain to delete...and probably I end up deleting actual comments too :(

What is "Special template" ....sorry for being so naive...

I tried Akismet, but it does not seem to work...I still get 100s of spams which I have to deal with....
I also have pixelpost final 1.5 release, which is supposed to be anti spam...but spam is just increasing.
I have even added http and www as the words in banlist. Nothing seem to work...
Now I am thinking that I will shut off comments page itself, so no comments :( and no spam :)

SPAM will still come as you must disable comments within pixelpost core files.

Thanks to your problem (and many similar) Ive got an idea for next release :)
