i'm moving my site because my friend is waiting to move his server(where both him and i have our photoblogs). and i'm trying to set it up on my friend's server..but no matter how many times i go back and check to make sure the thumbnails folder is set to '777' it tells me that the folder isn't configured to '777'! what can i do to make it recongize it?

Image Directory: OK - Thumbnails folder not writable! You must set correct permissions on this folder or you will not be able to upload any images.
Set the folder to chmod 777 (read, write and execute permissions for owner, group and world). CHMOD: 0755

hi,
on the server console type chmod 777 thumbnails
or use a ftp program to set the rights.

yeah i used the ftp program i have to set the permission for the folders..and it worked for the images but not the thumbnails. how else can i do it? when i use the ftp program to look at the folder on the actual server it tells it its 755, but its 777 in the original folder i uploaded

also it would be helpful to know which OS is running on the server (unix or WIN)

ok. then your buddy should grant the necessary rights to the folders with the chmod command :)

i cant do it myself?

if you're allowed to acces the console with "root" rights or allowed to execute chmod commands, yes :)

Maybe webserver works on other user at this box and maybe files are uploaded with webserver user not the other ones?
