Hi,
Mm, I can a bit python, so I will look what I can do, maybe it's easier to make a simple "form" program that uses the email submit photo addon for PP. Than you only have to make a program where you select everything and mail it.
We had idea of standalone software for it, some interface for internet interaction but the first one is very similar to current panel. The idea of second is much better and much more interesting.
PS To get native application for *nix + Linux + Win this should be done in Java or maybe phpGTK.

Yes, I'm thinking that phpGTK might be the best route. As I am already familiar with PHP, and I have had NO experience with Java.
Also, the next version of Mac OS X will have NATIVE GTK support, which would allow the program to run natively on the OS.
Now Im wondering about development some already functional browsers addon - i.e. for blog support for Firefox. Maybe this idea can be much more interesting for our users?

Well, when I post photos to my photoblog, I don't find them in a web browser.
Web browser integration would be useful for a blog where you post snippets of things that you find on the web, but I don't think it would be that useful for a personal photoblog.
Also of note, the more I look into PHP-GTK, the more I tend to lean towards WinBinder. I've used WinBinder in the past, and it worked great. The only downside is, WinBinder only runs on Windows. And since I now run a Mac, that doesn't help me too much, but it would probably help 80% of the Pixelpost user-base.

I quite like the Firefox Flickr uploader / manager http://kin.klever.net/fireflix/ It will be trivial to hack it to support Pixelpost and the likes...
On a much more broader perspective - There are lots of clients to post to regular blogs (Wordpress/blogger/MovableType and the likes) and thats because most of these apps share a common API for posting so the options are
#1 Pixelpost uses those APIs - unfortunately these are not very Photoblog friendly APIs
#2 Photoblogs and Galleries work towards a simple REST api for posting pictures...
Here is example Firefox addon:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3945/
We need to add addon with API for Pixelpost. Probably it will be a part of PP 2.0.

Has anyone done any work on Pixelpost API? If no I would like to give it a try...
So you have free hand as till now we are still working on other things.
Take a look on goplan. More or less there is current plan of work.

Oh, btw, I'm currently working with Xcode and AppleScript for the Uploader.
And since this is my first mac application, it is taking longer than usual, but I am optimistic that I will be able to get it working.
Here is a screen shot from Interface Builder:

Ok, I've finished the basic front end code.
Here are some screen shots of the program in action:

http://idisk.d3done.com/public/Picture%201_0000_Layer%202.jpg
It's still a little rough on the edges, but all in all, the program seems to run smoothly. The next step is to build the php addon for Pixelpost.
If there is anyone who uses a Mac that would like to help beta test this application, please contact me!

For those of you who use Flickr, you all know how useful the Flickr Uploadr application can be.
Great idea! I've often looked at the Mac app (windows soon!), PictureSync and wished it worked with PixelPost.
Check it out at: http://picturesync.net/
Apparently you can rig it to work with other services: "PictureSync also supports uploading pictures to any FTP server, exporting to a local folder and can support other web-based services through the easily implementable MediaSock API. This funcitonality enables integration with bespoke workflows and solutions." More info at: http://mediasock.org/
It's a really slick solution that works with tons of other services including Flickr, and integrates nicely with iPhoto, Aperture, and iView Media Pro. Let me know what you think...
Best,

I have to admit, that is a slick solution!
And in the end, as others have pointed out, Pixelpost needs to provide support for some of these APIs right out of the box. Hopefully in a future version, this could be a possibility.
But in the mean time, I've just about finished my uploader "addon" script for Pixelpost that will accept images from my uploader application. This will allow people to get similar features with the current version of Pixelpost.
Again, any beta testers are welcome!

I've seen the uploader in action and it looks real nice. However, this will require some changes since PP 1.6 is gonna add more features like tags, alternative language and stuff.
If you would like to make those changes before the release of PP 1.6 please contact me :D

If you can get me a copy of PP 1.6, I should be able to get the Uploader compatible.
Dennis

Yeah I could do that, unfortunately I'm not able to send you a copy right away. As soon as I'm back on track I'll contact you again.
Hi,
fantastic Application, thank you very much for that :)!
You also made the (very useful) extension postslug. Is there a chance to put in the next version a field where the postslug can be typed in by hand and if the field is empty it will be generated automatically?
Great work!

The Pixelpost Uploader works great with the PostSlug Addon. (which is not a coincidence) It will auto-generate a post slug based off the image title, which is what I use 99% of the time anyway. So it shouldn't be a problem for you.
If there is enough demand for a actual post slug text field, I can add that to a future version.

Hi Jay,
thanks for this app. What would be nice is to integrate this via the Aperture Export SDK, so we can upload directly from Aperture. Are you willing to share your code so I can give it a shot? Or if you are willing to do it your self, by all means.
Cheers, Fons.

Sure, here is the code, see what you can do with it:
PixelpostUploader_v1_Source_Mac.zip (http://labs.dview.us/uploader/Download_files/PixelpostUploader_v1_Source_Mac.zip) 80KB
Keep in mind that is is my first ever Mac app, so the code is a little messy, but it works, and that's the important part.
If you make any improvements to the code, please send the changes to me so I an incorporate them into future versions of the software.
Thanks!

I don't know if anyone here has tried Gallery 2 before but it has an add-in for Windows Explorer that allows you to upload images through the "Publish this file to the Web" dialogue. I thought this worked quite well.
Also, there's a miniature application from the guys at imageshack.us that allows photos to be uploaded to their site by right clicking on them in explorer and clicking "Upload to Imageshack" or something similar. It worked very well, and I think adding into your Pixelpost Uploader a "SEND TO > Pixelpost" context menu would work very nicely indeed.
I remember from the video tutorial on your site for the mac version that dragging and dropping works which is great, but the additional flexibility offered by the above options would prove very useful.
I'll be uploading with PPU soon!

I've tweaked the Installer, so now it creates an item in the "Send To" menu as well.
Just download it again, and run the installer.
