What new features will be in the new pixelpost?
I heard the ability to switch languages via the image templates and that was about it.

Anything else?

I wanted to try an make an addon to split comments onto multiple pages when a certain number of comments was reached but if this is included in the new release than I'll just wait.

Your idea is not included. You can do it as an addon.

List of all new features will be available in short time - with presentation of new Pixelpost 1.6.

there's a lot! in fact, i've been struggling to keep up with it and i have a live feed of every change made! schonhose and geos have been working very hard! as far as i'm aware the release is fairly imminent - at least as a beta most likely... so features should become known with that.

Well, we added some really exciting features. A couple of them will be visible at the front page, the majority is in the admin panel. More options are configurable, we took some additional methods to stop comment spam (altough it is not the final solution it will stop about 50% (at least at my blog)). Comments can be disabled per picture (SPAM seems to target only a few pictures). We've got tags, a tagcloud and full alternative language support (both template based and database based).

Currently my blog and GeoS blog are working under the latest SVN version to work out the latest kinks but it has been stable for the last two weeks. We have to fix some minor issues and want to include some nice templates to show off the new features.

So the release should be near...

Ok, one question about v1.6.

In PP v1.5 there is an admin workspace called "image_uploaded", which is very useful. In version 1.6, could we get another workspace called "image_re_uploaded"?

That way if someone re-uploads the photo, all of the addons can still process the photo.

WORKSPACES: which ones should we make? (http://forum.pixelpost.org/showthread.php?t=5959)

There is the workspace "image_update" in images_edit.php of 1.5
If they don't change that this should be what you are looking for, it processes immediately before updating the image including re-uploading

Unfortunately, due to the location of "image_update" in the script, it doesn't have easy access to the uploaded file; neither does it know if the file was uploaded successfully.

I placed my new workspace right after createthumbnail($oldfilename); (line 93 | images_edit.php)
And it works great. My image processing addons now run if the file was uploaded successfully. And they don't run if the user was just changing the text.

So does anyone have any kind of timeline for when 1.6 will be ready to roll? I'm holding out on updating my comment spam system until the new version release, but if it's going to be awhile yet..... Lots of people are complaining they can't comment.

@Sem: if you get so much SPAM then you are one of the best candidates for betatester :)
There is only one thing - whole team must agree that we are ready for beta phase.

i am deleting about 100 spam entries a day.. :-(why don't you give the Akismet addon a try? I don't have 100 spams a day, but at least 10 spams for 1 comment ;-) and it is working great...
Only problem with the actual Akisment version is that it requires a comments.php file where the page browsing is not working :-(

I'd be willing to be a beta tester.

I think there are probably a lot of willing beta testers. Like me, for instances.

I guess as soon as there is a Release Candidate we will all be welcomed to test :-)

I also would be a beta tester. The last few days i got more than 150 spam entries a day..

When i have the time i have to give the askimet plugin a try. i hope this works for me (because i do not have a comment.php in my template..)

You don't need the comment_template.html for Akismet working.
But sure you need comments.php in admin section ;-)
se.nsuo.us has just uploaded an updated version which makes it quite easy with the spam: http://se.nsuo.us/contrib/AkismetAddon.zip

hm. I don't get any spam. Well, I hardly get any comments. Just post crappy pictures like I do and you won't have any spam issues ;)

Come on ;-), i like your photos. Especially the portrait shots are great.

The Akismet Spam Plugin works very well! Thank you again.

Andreas

EDIT:

I got about 1000 Spam Entries since Monday. Most of them were caught by Akismet. I think it would be good to test the new features with my blog ;-)

PS: Can i delete all Comments in the Moderation Queue at once?
