Twoforks, that is great! Really one of the better ones I saw so far.
If you didn't say it in the title, I would have wondered... especially the staff looks very "modelly" and the sharpness of the train and cables is awsome.

I had to look up "tiltshift", I didn't know the english word for that. For all the other "dummies", tiltshift effect is making a fake miniature model (by processing or by lens).

Well, tiltshift refers to the lens itself. You can tilt the focus plane. They can be used for all sorts of things, not just making things look miniature.

But either way, nice photo!
I'd love to get my hands on one of those lenses sometime. It would be a fun to experiment with. Too bad they are extremely expensive. Maybe a I'll end up getting a LensBaby? Who knows.

You did a good job then!
Congratulations!

I personally enjoy any type of photoshop work that is so good that one wouldn't even know if it was modified if he/she were not told.

Jay, thanks for the correct explanation. Of course words like "tiltshift" are not in leo.dict.org :-( But now it makes sense to me.
I guess my explanation of "tiltshift effect" was not so wrong either, because the effect (not the mechanical tilting of the focus plane of course) can be made with post processing as well. Most images with tiltshift effect you find in the web right now are made by Photoshop, because people cannot afford buying the lenses.

Here is a very good link collection with a detailed overview of availible lenses:

I knew the effect from this site:

Have fun with it

ive tried, i cant work a real tiltshift for shit...and i like the lensbaby effect, new ones even have a lot of sharpness, but even those are like an insane price now...i remember when the first one came out, it was like $90 or something...now they can run up to $300

attempt 3...

i just bought a new camera yesterday. gone from a 5mp fuji s5600 to a canon 400d. what better way to break it in than to tiltshift!

i wanted to see how well this would work at night time.

cheers

I love this effect and your example is really well done. I have a few on my photoblog, this one from last spring being my favourite:

jgarde, austriaka, really nice work.

austriaka, i really like what you have done with the exposure and colouring in this one. i think that is half the battle to get that type of tone to the shot.

jgarde, your shot has made me feel like playing a game of "test match".

i thought i would post my last tiltshift attempt.
