Ok, it's me again.

There are no exif info shown in my info. The tags I used
are this from the doc. I try it with e.g. <LANG_EXPOSURE_TIME> and <EXIF_EXPOSURE_TIME>. Nothing there but I know that I´ve got Infos in my old pp 1.5 version. Not in all images but in some...

Did you update the 1.5 or made a new install?
Does this issue concern new uploaded images or images which were uploaded with 1.5?

Exif is indeed gone due too different behaviour. Login to your admin panel, goto addons and somewhere there should be an update exif button.

Press this button and all is fine again.

We noticed significant slowdowns on opening pages while reading exif. Therefore upon upload the exif is saved in the database. Newly uploaded pictures are therefore not affected. Older pictures don't have those yet, but we created an addon to fix that.

yeS, you should enable the EXIF addon first!

yeS I know, you can see the EXIF info @ version 1.6 beta here :

Hmmm I swear I added some more stuff in my previous post.

Thanks for noticing, we will update the documentation. The reason we turned this addon off is because a new install doesn't need this. Only an upgrade will have the need for this addon.

Coma, I was wondering if you would be so kind to update the Persian language files. In this case we will have the full Persian files in the final.

I update from 1.5 to 1.6 beta and I turned the exif addon on and off and off and on, there is no exif. No exif at the images whicht have been posted with pp 1.5 and no exif with the 1.6 beta. What did I do wrong?

Marek,
are you sure, there is EXIF-Date in your images?
I downloaded the (great) image of your son and this is the exif information with ExifViewer:
Dateilänge: 75018 Bytes
Künstler:

The exif information with the Firefox Plugin says:
Skipping APPx (0xe0) block
Skipping APPx (0xed) block
Skipping APPx (0xe2) block
Endian = Motorola
* * * Parsing the IFD0 data * * *
10 directory entries (tags) found
* * * Parsing the Exif SubIFD data * * *
30 directory entries (tags) found
* * * Parsing the IFD1 data * * *
Offset points beyond end of data segment
Error in parseIFD() for IFD1
Status = -9

Unable to extract all the Exif data.

The older ones have exif information, schonhose pointed out how to gather it (Login to your admin panel, goto addons, switch on the exif Addon and press the button "Update Exif Information")

Turn the addon on, press the button which appears when the addon is on.

Update EXIF (admin_update_exif - version 0.1) - status: ON
Since Pixelpost 1.6 the old behaviour of reading the EXIF files from the images upon loading is replaced by saving the EXIF in the database during the upload of an image. This will speed up loading time and will solve issues reported with the EXIF data. Please note you can turn the EXIF data off, this will effect the way the EXIF tags are replaced. EXIF data will always be saved in the database.

This addon provides an easy way to extract the EXIF from the images and save it to the database so the old pictures are compatible with the new EXIF functions.
And a button is visible after the text above. Turning the addon on doesn't update the exif.

Are there any plans to make the EXIF info in the database editable?

Marek

Ok, sorry, I've forget, to write about that. Yes I pressed the button already and 41 images were updated but the exif-info was not shown.

Karin, that's curious I checked the image before I uploaded it and the exif-info was embedded. A new upload with a new image was with the same issue. No Exif.

edit: It must be another problem, I found an image in my photoblogarchive with exifdata, but all newly uploaded photos don't have it.

Screenshot (http://mareknierychlo.de/bilder/dsc5199exif.png) before the upload.

edit2: another screenshot (for Karin) with the exif data of the picture of my son.
Screenshot2 (http://mareknierychlo.de/bilder/jasperexif.png)
I've downloaded the picture directly (http://lichtlauschen.mareknierychlo.de//images/20070325133649_dsc_8015.jpg) from my blog and drag'n'drop it to my desktop.

This is a very interesting feature which IMHO has to be done as an addon. Perhaps I'll release an addon for it (when I got time) because it shouldn't be that hard. Thanks for suggesting this!

Marek: it seems you got other issues. Did the exif info displayed well under 1.5 or are you not sure about this? Did you do the upload with 1.5 or the beta version?

Marek
03-26-2007, 05:48 AM
I've upload the last tree images with 1.6beta all others with 1.5. All images got data except the hdri from my fotoblog.
I think that I've got another problem, but I don't know how to solve it.

Marek

Marek

I don't know if the problem was made by me.

Look at this image (http://pp15.mareknierychlo.de/index.php?showimage=40) in pp1.5
and here's the same (http://lichtlauschen.mareknierychlo.de/index.php?showimage=40) in pp1.6beta

The exif will not be shown although ein updated the exif with the exif addon.

Do you use by any chance an addon for displaying the exif info or do you use pixelposts built in tags?

If you don't use an addon could you check the database with PHPMyAdmin if there is exif info in the corresponding field for that picture?

Marek
03-26-2007, 06:42 AM
I justt use the built in tags. Where exactly I have to look in my database?

Check the prefix_pixelpost table. There should be an exif_info field there. Does it contain something?

Marek
03-26-2007, 07:27 AM
Which of this is the prefix_pixelpost table?

For any reason you have two pixelpost installations. One uses the prefix "pixelpost_" which is the default value for pixelpost new installation.
The other one uses the prefix "pp".
You have to find out which one you are actually using (which one contains your images in either "pppixelpost" or "pixelpost_pixelpost).
The exif data field schonhose spoke of is either in "pppixelpost" or "pixelpost_pixelpost" too.

Dennis

ok, i gather your default pixelpost installation uses the prefix pixelpost You've done a new install using the prefix pp, but you use the database with the pixelpost prefix.

There are more changes to the database then this. I'm confused. Please describe how you installed or upgrade pixelpost.

NO!!!
After upgrading to PP1.6 the field "exif info" should already be there (in pppixelpost or in pixelpost_pixelpost).

I upgarded by overwriting all files and folders with the new pp 1.6.
Now, I remeber that the pp-data was from my old site, when I used two versions pp for tests, I just forgot to delete it.
A new screenshot

http://mareknierychlo.de/bilder/exifdb.png

So do you mean to step back with the backup from pp1.5 and then try it again before the things getting to complicated?

Ok, so you have a field exif data. Look at the specific id for the picture data exif data existed in 1.5 but not in 1.6. What is the content of exif_info?

And why are there three fulltext parameters on exif_info?

I think this
ALTER TABLE `pixelpost_pixelpost` ADD FULLTEXT(`exif_info`)

And why are there three fulltext parameters on exif_info?
I don't know why is that? Can I delete two of the three?

Dennis

Ok, database is fixed and I got a lead on the problems. It seems additional info is written by some Mac program. These look like hexadecimal characters so when the exif data is saved in the database Pixelpost can't get it out.

I'm currently investigating a solution.

Dennis
03-26-2007, 07:23 PM
Ok thanks to Jay, and a lot of trail and error we got it:

Aperture, the MAC program in question embeds the color profile and this throws the exif off balance.

Solution:
open it up in photoshop, to go "Save As" and choose JPG
make sure you UN-CHECK the "Embed Color Profile" box

Or in Aperture, export it without the profile

You can choose which profile do you want to use for exporting the images. I can confirm, that the exif data will be shown when you use the embedded profile which is in the image. Embedded IPTC Metadata doesn't matter.

Thank you schonhose for all you did.

Marek, I'm confused by your post: you state exif will be shown when an color profile is embedded in the picture?

Our testing concludes something different: you do not want to embed a color profile and then it works. We agree on the metadata not having an influence here.

Marek

In aperture I choose the function "use source-profil". Maybe there is "no" profil in source, but this is the only way I can export images for pp1.6.
