problem with install

I decided to try out the 1.6 version but after following installation instructions... I ended up with this

Error: BLOB/TEXT column 'alt_body' can't have a default value


what is this.. I can't proceed till its sorted.. please help

First, what version of Pixelpost were you upgrading from? 1.5?

Second, when you ran the upgrade installer, did you get any error messages?

Third, do you have phpMyAdmin installed and configured to access your databse?

Forth, on what page did you see this error message, and what were you trying to do when it happened?

i had the same problem.
here are the answers:
1) i am upgrading from 1.5
2) i get the error 'schonhose' mentioned when i went to site.com/admin/ and clicked on the upgrade button.
3) Yes
4) site.com/admin/install.php?install=one . here i was trying to upgrade. got the message after i clicked upgrade.
5) MySQL 5 PHP 5

not sure what you mean by this, because i am not doing anything special other than upgrading.

Well, in MySQL you can create various types of databases. Each database has it own limitations. You can check the type by using PHPMyAdmin
