We publicly released the beta, and got a good deal of feedback that helped a lot...pixelpost isn't a very complex application, there are not thousands of files, and we felt it was ready to be published as final version.

Thanks a lot for this good application, I'm a bit shy to update to the new version but I wanted to thank u for a long time for the great job. I hope, I'll find the courage next weekend to try the new version out.
Best regards
Stefan

The upgrade was simple and straightforward from 1.5 -> 1.6, took all of 3 minutes including backing everything up.

Update worked perfectly :)
It took most of my time to backup my files and the DB than to upgrade PP. Well done folks, keep up the good work :)

there is an issue with fresh install that slipped through the developers net.

It gives the upgrade screen. You can click upgrade and run through the process, then login to admin/ and use a blank username/pass and then in admin change your username pass to what you desire.

I followed your instructions, and have gotten it installed. Am in the process of setting up categories, setting all the options, etc. before I try uploading any images.

Hopefully the fix for this issue won't impact those of us who have already gotten it up and working.

Thank you for all the hard work that you and the rest of the team have put into this!! :)

Hey. One question: Is it really necessary to upgrade from 1.5? I did many many different changes in the system so it would be a little work to get it updated.
Are there any important security fixes in it or just some new features?

Pixelpost 1.6 is great. No spam anymore, more features etc. Good work.

Thanks Pixelpost Team.

Just installed 1.6, no problems whatsoever.

However, am I supposed to sign up to Akismet to stop getting spam? As within 30 mins of uploading the new version I got 4 spambot comments. (I had a previously modified pixelpost.php file that prevented spam completely)
I've now re-added the line that was in pixelpost.php back into functions_comments.php and I'm now not getting spam.

what you can do is read up on the documentation, especially on the <TOKEN> stuff.

groovyf, you don't have to use the Akismet addon. The new spam blocking features of 1.6 are catching most of the spam (93.4% in my blog to be exact). After the PP-included spam measuring methods Akismet checks the rest of them. In my blog that is 6.6%, I had 3 spam-comments not recognized as spam by Akismet and 1 wrong-recognized good comment since the beginning of April.
You can see the life statistic here: http://blog.uhlig.at/spamlog/

After new release of Pixelpost to 1.6 I have 10 spam comments as minimum every day. I disabled the comments but they send me anyway. Are there solutions without use Askimet? Thanks

Likewise, updated from 1.4 to 1.6 no probs! Really looking forward to the new anti-spam stuff. Hopefully I won't need to moderate all my messages now.

Nice one :)
