spam filter doesnt seem to be working in 1.6 final

moderation mode doesnt work
i still have spam comments -- a lot of them.
i dont know why

Have you tried enabling the <TOKEN> system?

Like Jay said: enable the <TOKEN> system, look at the documentation, it is quite easy and will block most (if not all) automated spam.
