View Full Version : Exif data is missing

Since my database crash I've had some troubles with pixelpost. I've fixed most of it now, but still, the exif info isn't showing.

I updated the exif in the addons page and got this message: "Updated exif from 276 images." So I guess that's OK.

But there's no exif showing on the content page. I guess that I am missing a table in the database perhaps? But it's weird that the exif update worked.

I have these tables:
pixelpost_addons
pixelpost_ban
pixelpost_banlist
pixelpost_catassoc
pixelpost_categories
pixelpost_comments
pixelpost_config
pixelpost_ping
pixelpost_pixelpost
pixelpost_stats
pixelpost_tags
pixelpost_version
pixelpost_visitors

Is there any missing? What should I do? You haven't changed the exif-tags, have you? :)

Have a look into the pixelpost_pixelpost table, there should be a table field called "exif_info". See if the images have some crowdy information in there.
Could it be that you made an update of PP from 1.5 to 1.6 when fixing the database crash?
Try to run the install.php again, this should create the missing tables for you and leave the content untouched (but better make a database backup before).

I suppose you used the correct EXIF tags in the image template?

KArinYes, there was a lot of info in that table. And I've tried to run the installation again, but it just says: Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /includes/create_tables.php:6) in/admin/install.php on line 17I use these tags: <li><LANG_CAPTURE_DATE></li>

Install won't help. Install will only run if the versionnumber in the database is lower then the version of the files.

Are you familiar with PHPMyAdmin? Could you check in the table pixelpost_pixelpost if there are values in the exif field for each image?

Or send me an image so I can test.

Ok, basically I looked at your page, took the photo with the guy with the sad look and uploaded it to my test install. (not public). Upload all went fine, this is the exif I got:

Camerafabrikant: Canon
Cameramodel: Canon EOS 20D
Belichting: 1/125 sec
Diafragma: f 6.3
Brandpuntsafstand: 100 mm
ISO: 100
Opnamedatum: May 6, 2007 - 10:39
Flitser: Uit

So it seems to be working for me. Could you post the version info, you can find it in the adminpanel under general info.

And you mentioned you had a database crash. Could you provide more specific details about that?

And I suggest to reupload all files like two other people done today and now they are happy as there are no more any isssue.

My host had a raid drive crash, so my database was set to zero. But the backup fixed this.

This is what it says under general info: You are running Pixelpost version: 1.6.0 (in the right direction) - April 2007
EXIF Pixelpost is using exifer v1.5 for EXIF-information.And I suggest to reupload all files like two other people done today and now they are happy as there are no more any isssue.I did this just before I posted this thread. :l

I've tried to replace all the files with new fresh ones, but there's still no exif showing.

Please, any suggestions?

log in as admin
insert ?errors or &errors (depending if there is a get-variable already) to your link in the adress bar on top of your browser.
Try that in admin panel and on image site.
Tell us what you find there.
If you don't find anything use ?errorsall or &errorsall

No, these are merely notices. Nothing to worry about.Hm, okay. Any more ideas?

I don't get it. The exif-info is available in phpMyAdmin, under the table pixelpost_pixelpost. So the problem must be when pixelpost is priting the info on the image page. Right?

I really want this to work. :l I used the same files and installed it on my localhost without any problems.

austriaka

And are you sure you have the exactly same files in your local installation and online? FTP programs sometimes don't overwrite files if the date of the file to overwrite is newer than the overwriting one.
Please use only "errors" in the URL, do you see nothing there? (Addon page, admin images list, images front page)

I am afraid you must learn a little bit PHP to find the point where it is not working. Or find somebody you give your FTP data and let him experiment

It is definitely not fault of your images. I just took one from your blog and published it in my blog

Exif is working ok.

Hm.
When did you download the Pixelpost files? There have been a few updates in exif things, perhaps ypu did miss them?
Download a fresh install and replace the functions_exif.php

I made a fresh installation, in a nother location, but on the same database, and it worked. So it seems that something is wrong with my tables on the database.

I just don't want to loose all comments and images. What tables should I backup if I want to make a fresh installation again?

Dennis
05-09-2007, 11:29 AM
You said you used the same database. So two different installs using the same database. Fresh install seems to work, old install not.

This points to the old install being faulty. Otherwise, if it was the database then the new install would also experience the same difficulties as the old install.

But I just can't drop the old database tables and install pixelpost again. I must have the old comments and all the images and so on.

So if I import this after a fresh install, the error might come again. So I don't know what to do. :(

Dennis

In that case, yes, it is probably the database setup. Copying the info from the old to the new tables won't be that hard, but you have to do it by hand.

Another way is to use PHPMyAdmin and save the database structure to a file. Perhaps I can figure out what is the difference between the two setups.

silfver
05-10-2007, 02:36 PM
Hm. I exported the structure for the two tables in the database, the working one, and the nonworking one. The nonworking one has 177 rows of data. The working one has 133 rows. That's really weird.

But maybe you guys changed the database structure to the 1.6 version?

However. I'm gonna see if I can see any difference in the two files I've got.

Dennis
05-10-2007, 04:50 PM
number of rows doesn't mean much. If you have an addon in the non-working version before that created a table it could be the cause of the additional rows.

Check the structure in the tables for the working one against the non-working one.
