Hi,

I've just installed the latest pixelpost version and I'm trying to "mass edit category" - to add tags to photos I previously uploaded to my website -- but no matter how many photos I select with the mass edit category I cannot add tags. I can only add tags when I edit images one by one or when I upload new images.

my website: www.lightplay.ca

Thanks much,
Alex

I made a ticket for it. We look into it asap (probably next week due to midterms and stuff)

For me both - tagging and untagging works fine. You must write tag to "Add/remove ..." field and in the next one choose between Add tag(s)/Add tag(s) for alt.../Remove tag(s).
Thats all.
As I good remember I didnt do any change in code of it between 1.6 Final and my current 1.7 SVN (Ive tested on this version).

Till end of week I dont have any time to look deeper into it.

Here's a screencast of how this function is supposed to work.

Don't worry if the admin panel looks slightly different then yours. I am running the current SVN version which is available to developers only at this time.

You need the Flash plug-in (http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer) installed.

Hi guys, thank you for looking into this! GeoS, that's what I'm doing but it doesn't work for me.

Unfortunately the screencast uploaded by you, dwilkinsjr, doesn't load on my laptop and I tried it on other people's PC and still doesn't load even though we all have quicktime. Can you please check and see if it's working?

:(

just to clarify:

currently, tagging works when I upload new images and go to "new image" and write tags in the tag area OR if I go to "images" and click on "edit image" (so, works one by one).

if I try to go to "images" and select a category in the "mass edit category" box (at this step, I think the page has to refresh and only show me the photos I selected but that doesn't happen) -- I then type a tag where it says "add/remove" tags -- then select "add tags" in the dropdown menu -- click "update in mass", the page re-loads and I get a 0 count in the upper left side of the screen -- and nothing happens.

thanks.

I don't know what to say, its a standard movie file.

I'll look into converting it later but you should have no issues.

I have the same problem viewing the Quicktime movie.

Screenshot:

It just sits at the beginning, it won't load the file or play it at all.

Alright everyone.

Here it is, http://docs.dwilkinsjr.com/media/

Quicktime is no longer required. You now need the Flash plug-in (http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer) installed :p

Thanks. Well -- that works but it is extremely time consuming. Let's say I have 100+ photos in my Toronto category - and if I want to tag them all with "my favourite city" I have to click on each of the photo to select them. It would make sense for me to be able to select a category (e.g. Toronto) and press a button to select all of those photos in that category and apply a tag to all of them. I thought that was the reason for "mass edit" in the first place - I thought what it did was 'select all in that category' and tag all. Having to click one by one when I have 1,800 photos in my website doesn't work for me.

Thanks for taking all the trouble to explain it!

I see what you mean.

While the next release of Pixelpost will not contain this exact feature, it will make this much easier for you as you can choose to display only images within a certain category and then you will be able to use the select all button and go from there.

As Pixelpost continues its development it will become more refined and I wouldn't be surprised if this type of functionality will be included in the future.

Solution maybe isnt nice but there is one:
1. Go to image section of admin side
2. Change number of images per page (i.e. to 1000)
3. Use option Select all
4. Sign in tag for them, set to add new tag and push the button
5. Change number of images per page to previous version

PS dwilkinsjr - what do you use to take this flash screencasts?

PS dwilkinsjr - what do you use to take this flash screencasts?

I use a standard program to record what I am doing on screen and then use flash to convert the movie file to a .flv file.

Ok :D I thought youve got one app to do both things.

More or less this functionality is ready now (in current dev version) so Im closing this thread.
