Hi,

I'm posting here in desperation, I'm afraid! A week ago, my photoblog was fine - yesterday, I went to upload a photo and all I got was "Error" at the bottom of the upload new image screen.

I have done nothing in the interim to Pixelpost, and to the best of my knowledge my hosting provider (Supanames) have not altered anything either in terms of PHP, SQL etc. All the database tables look to be intact. I can edit old images fine. I have checked the CHMODs on all relevant directories are 777. I have tried using a different template. It's not my firewall. I tried using the Pixelpost uploader, and didn't have any luck.

So I'm now at my wit's end as to what is wrong, and hoping somebody else has encountered this problem - and hoping more that some one can help me fix it! I'm completely baffled since, as I say, I haven't done anything to it between my previous and recent attempts.

Here are all the relevant bits from the Pixelpost info page.

First thing...
Back up your database. (Using a utility such as phpMyAdmin)
Back up your images & thumbnail directories.

After you have done that, download Pixelpost again and re-upload it.
(You will need to setup pixelpost.php again with your mySQL info)

You may also want to turn off any addons you are running if you experience any additional problems.

Keep in mind that the Pixelpost Uploader is currently for Pixelpost v1.5 only.

Thanks for the advice, Jay. I had already done what you suggested, to no effect. I've now taken the more drastic step of deleting the (backed up) database (all 175 images and comments etc.) and starting with a completely clean install....to no effect.

This made me think it might be a caching problem on my PC, so I tried on a friend's computer to no avail.

So the only alternative now is that it must be my host, Supanames, having changed something with their SQL working. I'll get onto them, of course, but does anyone have any ideas about what specifically it might be...? Anyone else use Supanames and have this issue suddenly happen?

I'm having exactly the same problem. My site was running fine with pp v1.6 but I wanted to give it a face lift and clean out the db. I deleted everything and reinstalled pp v1.6 now I can't upload anything, I just get "Error".

Another strange thing, not related is that I can't log on to the admin page with Opera/Firefox or Safari, the page just refreshes when I click log in however it works fine with IE 6.

5 minutes after posting this I fixed my own problem. The blog is located in a sub folder on my host but I noticed there was no 'tmp' folder in the root, once I added one all my problems are gone.

I just got in touch with Supanames, and they sent this response (quite quickly, I might add):

I have set your php upload_tmp_dir path in your MYPANEL and also created a /tmp folder. Please allow up to 12hours for the server to reset and the php setting to take affect and this should then resolve your upload issue. If this does not correct the issue please get back in touch and we will look in to this further for you.

This would seem to tally in with your solution, Mike. The question is how did my host manage to alter my PHP settings, and delete the TMP directory?! Anyway, seems to be up and running in theory now - just have to re-upload and manually add all 175 photos!

Good luck Ishmael, I've just spent the best part of today uploading 58 images. I'm knackered now and going for a drink.
