slow performance

just wondering if anyone is experiencing very slow performance with their blog software?
my blog - which i just started a few days ago, its running very slow http://amintorres.com/blog/index.php
anyone has any comments/suggestions?

It's always a good idea to turn off any addons that you are not using.

You may even want to turn off all of your addons for a test to see if that makes any difference.

yup! turned all stuff am not using off and its running way faster now.

actually, i turned off most of my addons and its still slow.
now, there are some addons that am not 100% sure if i should turn them off.
if i turn one of those off, say "Ping service" for example (which i have no idea what it does) would those affect -negatively- anything on the site?

Aslo, What else in addition to turning unused addons off, would make the blog run faster?

Do you experience any slowness in other sites you're having? It doesn't have to be Pixelpost. If you're on a shared box, you most likely will experience some slowness because of the other users.

umm, not sure i understand...
when you say a "shared box" you mean my internet connection? if that is the case, no, i am viewing the site via two computers, a mac (using wireless) and a pc, which is wired connected to the internet. in both computers - which both have 4gb or ram, the blog performs slow. no one else is connected to my internet other than me.

if you mean, i am sharing my server with others? No, am not, the only thing running on my server is my flash site:
www.amintorres.com and the blog and that's it.
and my flash site performs as fast as usual.

perhaps i did something wrong during the installation process, maybe since the blog is using a database and the flash site is not, the blog requires a more powerful server and this is all a server issue from the very beginning.

do you mind sharing your thoughts on these things i just mentioned.

This will cause things to slow down. Flash won't slow down because once it is loaded it works.

I do agree with you that the flash part is loading way quicker then the Pixelpost setup. Even the adminpanel login page is slow. That would mean it has nothing todo with addons and stuff. These are not loaded when you're not logged in. In that case only a simple form is displayed.

Please contact your hoster about this.

You could try removing the google analytics part for testing.

Things are running better now for some reason.
I did contact my server company and they find the blog to be running normally as on right now. They sent instruction to perform some routine checkup if the slowness continues. if it continues to be slow and whatever they do (my server company) alleviates the situation. I will come back and update the the thread with instruction for those using powweb like me.

I used to work for a company that charged $100+/month for a server with only 20 other sites on it. The servers for the $20/month plans had over 1000 sites on them.

@amintorres unless you are paying for a dedicated or colocated server (cheapest I've ever seen was ~$60/month), then you are almost certainly on a shared server with several other websites. Any one of them could cause performance issues on your site.
