If you don't want the thumbs to enlarge, just replace the tag... <PB_THUMBS_ROW_REV>

in index_template.html

The area for the thumbnails is fixed to the smaller size since by design the hover gives you a larger version, so if you run a thumbnail size of larger than 35px, then you'll have to edit the CSS to accomodate the larger size.

Jean Laurent's install is a perfect example of everything works. He spent a bit of time customizing because he got an early release. I think I fixed just about everything he had to go through so most of you should just be able to upload and be fairly ok.

READ THE READ ME
this file indicates some key little things that must be done to clean up some of the formatting. The READ ME file refers to a language file... which is included in your PP installation. i.e. for english users, modify lang-english.php in the language directory.

TAGS
My template says tags, but it's actually referrring to categories. The WARCHIVE add-on will display a "tag" cloud of categories. If you don't use categories, then you'll want to replace the warchive tag with one of PP's standard filtering tags or another add-on

TITLES MISSING
Kippe and aboutpictures... it looks like you may be removing the code that keeps the title in the uppler left hand corner of the image... the code comments indicate only delete if you are going to use an image instead.

ARCHIVE PAGE NOT WORKING
Can a PP guru advise if index.php?x=browse is a valid href for the archives page in all PP versions?

I fully expected there would be issues, but a recent email from one of you basically convinced me that most people are going to modify the template to suit there needs anyway so i don't need to perfect it. But if something's not working, I'll be sure to get it working quickly and will advise RE this post.

AND NOW FOR THE FINE PRINT
Delicious is not for everyone obviously... what it needs most is nice large images... the image title, description, exif, comments and comment form all have to fit inside the boundaries of the image. People who consistently post images smaller than 700px wide may want to re-consider using this template. The template also uses a PNG for the previous and next navigation. On IE6, the png arrows will look fugly. A fix is in the works.

I am working on an enhancement that will let the details area of every image (i.e. title, desicription, exif and comments) show everything without a scroll bar when that content exceeds the size of the image. The trick will be to set the right DIV container's overflow property to visible.

This was working at one point, but in working with the various versions I have going on, I think I overwrote the relevant CSS.

blind is the only one that toggles without extra scripting so far.

Love the template, although I have a question: (this happens with my 1.6 installation at least) is there any way to post the new comments using AJAX or something so that when a comment is submitted, it doesn't go to the comment confirmation/redirection page?

I was just wondering because that is the only thing nagging me so far, I feel it's a distraction and takes away from the experience the template provides a user. Other than that, I must say it's quite the perfect and envious template.

For the ISO: ISO: 100 Problem:
you can use <EXIF_ISO> instead of <LANG_ISO> so you don't have to edit the language file in this case.

and in the archive the <PIXELPOST_WARCHIVES smallest="8" largest="22" unit="pt"> thing should be unit="px" i think. With pt the font is out of the box at the top if all pictures are in one category (big font!), with px it seems to work better.

1) this was a known problem, but because I saw it happening on the Simple template that ships with PP, I assumed it was already looked at with no solution. However, I figured out how to do it...

You'll need to change the body and html properties in your CSS files...

To anyone considering this template, v0.3 will be released tonight, and will include several changes for some of the things folks have brought up in this thread... both fixes and suggested improvements... and a much needed cleaning of the code... no major design changes.

If you are considering Delicious, you may want hold out a little bit so you don't end up like some installing, tweaking then seeing a new version is available.

You deleted WARCHIVE which is the add-on I am using to display categories. Why it's not working for some is still a work in progress, but because you deleted it, you're not going to get any categories showing up. The All you see was a link I added to compliment the WARCHIVE add-on. Since WARCHIVE had no way of getting back to all of the categories, that all was added bye me to look just like the WARCHIVE tags and give the user the ability to click on that one just like the other categories.

You need to go into image_template.html and delete...

I'll list the major changes that are bug fixes, but if this template catches on, I'll probably make a dedicated page no my site for it and keep a change log, so yes and no to your question. Post v1.0 changes will definitely see a change log and the ability to download all versions.

I kinda wish I would have waited a little because I was in testing mode in various browsers, but all of you have been a great help in getting delicious to actually live up to it's name.

I'm not sure I understand what it is you're trying to do, but the width of the <td> actually will control how many columns will appear on the archive page. Right now, the width is set to show 6 columns if the thumbnails are 100px wide... if you have a thumbnail larger or smaller than that, you'll have to modify the cell width accordingly - and don't forget to add the image padding when re-defining the column width.

I am having the same issue on my PP1.6 @ latresca.net/pixel. I tried to use my old host (9cet.com/pixel) before my subscription expires in next few weeks and instaled PP1.6 w/ your template (w/o any modification) and the issue is the same -- when I hit 'archive' nothing happens (blank screen) or I receive an error message '503 service unavailable'. when I delete the referrence to the WARCHIVES, it goes fine, only the archive categories are not available ;-)

Please start posting screenshots of any layout related problems.... we can all do our best to synchronize how things look in each of the browsers, but the reality is that it's sometimes difficult. My feedburner stats say more than 85% of the viewers following my feed are using mozilla based and IE7 to view my site. That to me means I'm going to focus 95% of my time making it look good in those applications.

but that's no excuse, right... so send me a screenshot and I'll do my best to make things look super pretty.

the white showing up in the girls jacket has EVERYTHING to do with the image_fade script. when I remove this line from the head section of image_template.html, upload and reload the page, the white specs go away.

So the script is not rendering the darkest parts of the image, instead leaves the color of the container behind it... add the script back in and you get the white spots... wierd... it's actually happening in the dark theme too, it's just not as noticeable because the div behind the image is "almost" black... freakin IE... ughhh! let me look into this one...

I'll also look into your alignment issue.... that you're probably just missing something simple.

On browse_template, i've located this as per previous comments.

I've taken out PIXELPOST_WARCHIVES so you only have <smallest="8" largest="22" unit="pt"></div></div></div> left.

This seemed to have worked for me. When you click on the tags while viewing the details, it takes you to that related tagged images. Hooray!

On another note, i'd like to move the comments section within the 'Details' below the 'Image Notes' instead of side-by-side but i don't know how to do this, any help?

confirmed by other posts in the forum, the script is a universal problem in other themes as well... not just Delicious... and it's only a problem in IE where an image has a true black pixel... the solution I have seen, and I agree with at this point, is to exlude IE from the fade in effect...

which is what I'll do in v0.3

if you want to fix this now, yourself, just open image_fade.js in the scripts folder, and edit line 55 to read this...

I think you should be able to just open up each of the CSS files, and get rid of the float and width properties for the #addcomment and #image_comments selectors.

I think you should be able to just open up each of the CSS files, and get rid of the float and width properties for the #addcomment and #image_comments selectors.

I have tried this but didn't seem to work. If i understand it correctly, i've deleted the width: and float: on both #addcomment and #image_comments.

Do i need to amend any coding on the image_template too? :confused:

There seems to be some confusion with Tags vs. Categories. I don't use Tags on my site... I use Categories... and although the template says Tags everywhere, it is really pointing to Categories.

Also, if you are getting the word Tags: and Category or Categories in the slide-out, you haven't modified your language file. You need to delete the plural and singular text within the quotes for those two entries. Same applies to the lang_iso value in your language file.

It's doing this because I have a table set up to line up the titles for each of the lines just below the Image title... and in the first column, I wanted the line heading and in the second column the values.

I'm using Pixelpost 1.6 and there you can use <EXIF_ISO> which gives only the number instead of <LANG_ISO> so you don't have to edit the language file.

I love the template! Thanks for making it available. I Hope your burnt arm is not hurting too badly. I have a question - my enlarged thumbs don't appear for me on mouseover hover. I believe I followed the installation instructions very carefully including uploading the 3 addon files to the main pixel post addon folder. I did regenerate the thumbs to 100 x 100 but I notice that on the archive page that the most recent ones did not regenerate to the new size. I am using pixelpost 1.5. Any suggestions where I should check to locate my problem?

I sorted it out - it was caused by format choice when saiving the updated english dictionary file (I used ANSI first, which didn't work). I deleted working/test version of PP on that address and fully functional version is at latresca.net

replace your language file w/ one from original PP installation and when editing the file again, don't use ANSI encoding (i.e. in notepad save as -> encoding -> unicode).

Glad it's working now. If I'd seen your post earlier I would have told you to CTRL+SHIFT+R to reload the page. It sounds like you had a caching issue. Even if you reload a page (CTRL+R) it usually doesn't reload the images because that would be a big thing to do every time you load a page you've already visited. Pressing shift tells it to reload the images as well. I guess just a tip for next time. ;)

Many of us had this problem. See this reply (http://www.pixelpost.org/forum/showpost.php?p=49008&postcount=96) for the answer (probably an incompatibility with the addon and 1.6).

I created my own logo.gif and logo_dark.gif, overwrited the standard-gifs with my files, edited the html and css-files, but it's not working!
I see nothing.

I meant to mention this earlier. I couldn't get the logo to show up either until I gave it a width. In the html you downloaded it says:

Perhaps the weighted archives and paged archives are not meant to be used at the same time, i.e. the category and monthly dropdowns interrupt the weighted categories. Try the page without the dropdowns, or turn off your paged archives addon.
I'm not sure what it means that the page behaves differently with different names, could be a fluke.

I checked your 'production' website and it seems to work fine w/ the tags (categories). as long as the first is concerned, I would guess it's got something to do w/ your database setup. if you check the templates the 'Don't do that! go back to index.php!' is nowhere listed in there...

Hey everybody...

first I'd like to thank everyone for the complements on the design. I'll make no claim it's groundbreaking, but my goal wasn't that... it was to create somethign somewhat clean.

I'll move on to appologize for going ghost on everyone... but it's been for a reason... I had a pretty bad burn on my arm which got infected because I tried to be all neanderthal about it, started focusing my attention on delicious lite, I'm developing a "delicious" wordpress template and doing a web site for a client. The good news is that you "beta" testers are moving right along. This is a good thing as I can assure you v1 will be even cleaner... even more polished... I promise.

I also don't want to keep releasing incremental versions because people who modify to suit their needs will have to keep on doing so.

What I do hope to see is delicious become a platform for even greater design so keep on tweaking at it.

I'm hoping to be done with v1 (the non-beta release) in a week or so.

I believe it is due to the overlib script you declared in the image_template.html page.. it should be declared in between your <head> </head> tags or in your overlib directory

I checked your 'production' website and it seems to work fine w/ the tags (categories). as long as the first is concerned, I would guess it's got something to do w/ your database setup. if you check the templates the 'Don't do that! go back to index.php!' is nowhere listed in there...

I figured out what #1 problem was.. it was that the database was running 1.6 pixelpost and was still running pp 1.5 .. after upgrading to 1.6 it fixed it.

However, my tags are showing, but are not being bolded properly .. anyone have the same problem?

I try to use reflection, It works well when my template is set in white but when I put it in black the reflection is still white...

To get a dynamic black/white color change, I recommend you checkout the realtime Reflection JS script.

My addon doesn't require any JS, as the reflection is pre-rendered.
The script will make the page take a bit longer to load, but it's the best way to make it work on any background.

I use this template, too and I like it, but I got a little problem...

Shutterhead used the categories for the warchive tags, but when you have an alternative language the second language does only work with the default language for the categories and not with the alternative one.
Is it possible to get a workaround for that? Any idea?

I am not getting the cool magnifaction of the side bar and that and i open up my firefox error console and it says:

Hi,

The template is brilliant. Thanks to shutterhead! I have noticed a problem with the top navigation bar, in the case of portrait shots. Landscape shots have no problem. The items in the nav bar and the site title link overlap. For example, see http://surajravindran.com/fleetingmoments/index.php?showimage=153

I searched the thread to see if someone has this problem, but I did not find anything. Could anyone suggest a solution?

Don't count on it anytime soon. I noticed while tinkering with this template, that its author isn't actually running his photoblog on PixelPost. I emailed him about it, and after a few days got back sort of a mass email response saying that he was going to be taking a break from his computer for a while.

Did you read the previous three posts before asking this - abut changing the CHMOD of the addons files to 755? If not, then do that. If that doesn't work please give us a URL to view your problem and some more details.

They are being caused by the links to the previous and next images, which are actually defined in the scripts area of the image_template.html file. Here is the code:

This is a hard one to fix. The code should ideally be in a separate js file (which is how it should be done) then those 2 errors will not be reported. However as the code contains tags (<IMAGE_PREVIOUS_ID>, <IMAGE_NEXT_ID> and <IMAGE_ID>) the code needs to be in the main html template so Pixelpost can parse these tags.

If there is a way to tell pixelpost to parse a .js file then this would be one way to resolve the problem. Alternatively code could possibly be modified to accept the <IMAGE_PREVIOUS_ID>, <IMAGE_NEXT_ID> and <IMAGE_ID>) values via the browsing() call and the underlying function re-written. If you get it working let me know :-)

I've actually cleaned up all of the code on my implementation of this template and it is only those 2 errors I have left.

It's a great template and I'm glad it was released even if it had a few HTML errors.

If you want to change the "opacity" when the "Details" linked is click you will need to change the underlying light.css/dark.css stylesheets. Look for #slide_out and change the opacity settings. To turn it off set it to 1.0 and 100

The minor changes I have made are as follows:


General HTML code tidy up.
Changed default stylesheet to version that displays a white background.
Fixed bug where Archives page did not always display.
Cloud Tags support added into CSS for Tags on Archives page.
Improved display of text when "Details" blind is viewed with white stylesheet.


The minor enhancements I have made are:


Included more EXIF details in the "Details" blind
Implemented paged archives support (good if you have lots of photos).
Changed Archives page title to be more Search Engine Friendly.
E.g.: Title will now say "Browse All", "Browse London", "Browse September 2007"
depending on category or archive selected.
Implemented a "View on Black" feature on main page to view selected
photo on a black background.

I've tested it on Pixelpost 1.6.

That's a fair point. I've renamed it now to DELICIOUS RAZ v0.25 and edited the original posting.

Apparently the next version that will be released by Shutterhead is 0.30 which is why I called it 0.25

In Pixelpost admin, set thumbnails to 100px x 100px and regenerate thumbnails.

You need to log into feedburner and set the source feed to be http://uncommoncommons.com/index.php?x=atom as feedburner is reporting a 404 which means it can't find your atom feed.

That should fix your problem.

Also I noticed that your autodiscovery is set to to the PP rss feed and not your feedburner feed. You will need to set your autodiscovery to

Change the permissions on the thumbnails directory to 777. That might work but it sounds like an implementation issue with your PP installation.
