View Full Version : The 'Update EXIF' button isn't there

I'd love some help please. I've just upgraded my 1.5 install to 1.6 and everything is working except for one thing. It says I need to click the 'Update EXIF' button on the addons page, but it's not there so I can't click it. This means none of my images are displaying their EXIF data. My includes folder has a folder called 'exifer1_5' in it. On my info page it says 'EXIF Pixelpost is using exifer v1.5 for EXIF-information.'. My addons page does not mention EXIF anywhere.
Any idea what I need to do to restore my display of EXIF information? I read a post about a new version of exifer but the post didn't contain a link to the download of it.
Any help much appreciated!

I have found this thread but there is no download link in it to the amended exifer file, where can I find it?

To show the problem, my old install is still there at this address:
http://www.slackerpedia.com/pixelpost-old/
Click on the info button for any image and you will see the exif data. On my new install I get nothing. I'm baffled that I can't find a solution to this anywhere :(

The EXIF button you are looking for on the addons page should be there if you uploaded all pixelpost files.
It's a pixelpost addon you're looking for, so, you either selectively uploaded the pre-packaged 1.6 addons or forgot all together to do so.

I uploaded everything except the images, thumbnails and templates folders...
I've just done this again and still no exif button is there. I don't understand what is happening. My 1.5 install works perfectly still.
My 1.6 addons folder contains these 11 files only, I have not added any others:
admin_ping.php
admin_update_exif.php
advanced_stat.php
admin_akismet_comment.php
admin_12CropImage.php
paged_archive.php
referer_spam.php
calendar.php
copy_folder.php
current_datetime.php
index.html
One last thing - I've uploaded 2 new images and the exif data displays correctly, so everything is working apart from my missing update button.
My info panel:
PHP-version 4.4.3 (Pixelpost's min requirement: PHP version: 4.3.0 )
Session save path /tmp
MySQL version 4.1.22-standard (Pixelpost's min requirement: MySQL: 3.23.58 )
GD-lib bundled (2.0.28 compatible) with JPEG support
File Uploads to Pixelpost site are possible.
Server Software Apache 3
EXIF Pixelpost is using exifer v1.5 for EXIF-information.

admin_update_exif.php
that is the EXIF addon you are looking for.
It's possible you have an addon that is not compatible with v1.6 and in turn, your addons page is not completely loading all available addons.
Turn off all addons except the ones packaged with pixelpost and scan your addons list again.
Here is what you need to look for:

Thanks but I think you may have missed my last post where I listed all my addons. It is a clean install of 1.6 with just the standard addons, and that one is listed in the folder. But still no button appears :(
As I listed before:
My 1.6 addons folder contains these 11 files only, I have not added any others:
admin_ping.php
admin_update_exif.php
advanced_stat.php
admin_akismet_comment.php
admin_12CropImage.php
paged_archive.php
referer_spam.php
calendar.php
copy_folder.php
current_datetime.php
index.html

And to show what's happening, this image:
http://www.slackerpedia.com/pixelpost/index.php?showimage=153
Is one added after I installed 1.6, and exif data is shown when you click the info/comments button.
This image was from when I was running 1.5 and does not show exif data:
http://www.slackerpedia.com/pixelpost/index.php?showimage=152
When I upgraded I over-wrote all my 1.5 files except for the images, thumbnails and templates folders.

OK, so while looking at your addons list, type the following to the end of your URL and see if any errors show up throughout the page pertaining to the EXIF addon.
&errors
So, your full url will look something like:
http://example.com/pixelpost/admin/index.php?view=addons&errors

Ok, let's go through the steps again: As far as I can see you do have the addon. Is it set to on in the admin panel?
It should be there. Please provide the info dwilkinsjr is asking for.

Under the ping service part it says this:
Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/dnfgbrqc/public_html/pixelpost/addons/paged_archive.php on line 588
Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/dnfgbrqc/public_html/pixelpost/addons/paged_archive.php on line 610
And right at the bottom under the copy folder contents part is this:
Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/dnfgbrqc/public_html/pixelpost/addons/paged_archive.php on line 588
Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/dnfgbrqc/public_html/pixelpost/addons/paged_archive.php on line 610
Still no mention of exif anywhere at all...

If you mean on the 'general' part of the options page then yes it is turned on:
ENABLE EXIF
Should Pixelpost enable Exif feature on the frontpage? Yes
It just seems to ignore anything to do with exif addons. I may just as well go back to 1.5 as that worked perfectly :(

If you do not mind, please private message me with a link to your admin page and the login details so i can have a look around.

Thanks but could I send you screen shots instead? What pages would you need?

The complete addons page with &errors in the URL.
The complete info page (no need for the language authors list)
This should be enough for me now.

No, not quite. I meant if the addon is on. It is disabled (e.g. off) by default.
By downgrading to 1.5 you'll be missing cool features, so bear with us for a sec while we try to resolve your issue.

Here is your problem:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare create_stat_table() (previously declared in
/home/*******/public_html/pixelpost/addons/advanced_stat.php:112) in
/home/*******/public_html/pixelpost/addons/advanced_stat.php on line 112
This is stopping the rest of your addons from loading.
What that error means is, the function, create_stat_table(), is used more than once which PHP is not permitting to happen.
So, you either have 2 addons that use this same function meaning you have found a compatibility issue, or you have 2 advanced_stat.php files but one is renamed to something slightly different.

I'm afraid that doesn't help, as I said before this is effectively a clean install of 1.6, the only folders I did not overwrite are the images, thumbnails and templates folders. Everything else is exactly as I downloaded in the 1.6 zip file, and the list of addons I listed is everything that was in the downloaded 1.6 file, I have not added or taken anything away.
I'm sorry this is causing so much trouble, I am baffled as to what is wrong. It's a standard install with nothing changed running on a server that runs 1.5 perfectly.

How can I turn the addon on or off if there is no mention of it on the addons page though?
I.e. by replacing extension of addon file from .php to .phpold by FTP.

I've not done anything like that, and my 2 new images display their info correctly so it must be working. I just need to get my old images exif data into the new database.
Youve asked about how to disable an addon which isnt listed in Admin panel. That was what for I answered.
Check if you dont have copies of addons in addon directory.

No my addons folder is as I listed below, standard 1.6.

I can't tell you whats going on as I don't have access to your ftp server but that PHP error states that a function is being declared twice. I checked all pixelpost packaged addons and there is zero compatibility issues. If you don't mind, take a screenshot of your addons folder for me.

AFTER you take a screenshot of your addons folder, temporarily remove the advanced_stat.php file and check your addons list. you now should see the EXIF button. Click the proper button to get your old EXIF data into the database and at least that issue will be solved for you.

That worked! Thank you so much. I wonder what causes it?

I cannot tell you the cause unless I see a screenshot of the files inside your addons folder. Then I might be able to determine any conflict issues.

Sorry but as I keep on saying, my addons folder is as I listed it below, it is exactly the same as the addons folder that comes with v1.6 of PP, I haven't added or deleted anything.
Here it is again:
paged_archive.php
index.html
current_datetime.php
copy_folder.php
calendar.php
admin_update_exif.php
admin_akismet_comment.php
admin_ping.php
admin_12CropImage.php
referer_spam.php
advanced_stat.php
