We need to post a text about the categories.

Pixelpost is blogging software, not a gallery system.

and ? why dont remove categories from pixelpost? now, there are tags , tags are more 2.0 than categories ...., i think a little flexibility is better, no?

Think of categories as Flickr's "Sets".
It's a way to group a series of photos together without all the photos having a similar tag.
For some it can be a bit redundant, but for others, it is quite useful.

cryfreeman: you can code an addon to support category description. How is that for flexibility :p

The goal is to make Pixelpost as fast as possible and certainly not bloated software. Therefore we have included the possibility to code addons so the user can decide how 'bloated' their setup is going to be.

It's true the categories are perhaps a bit outdated, but nevertheless we keep them in there for compatibility reasons.
