Simple modification help

I made a modification to the simple template for the browse page. I took out the drop down and made it a list. I basically coppied the code from delicious. Can anyone tell me how I can get this list to reside on the side of the page in stead of dead center above the thumbnails. I'm Guessing that I need to seperate it from the body somehow but I'm not sure how or where. (html or css or both)
