Hey,
I just installed Pixelpost with a Eleven2 hosting plan. And it all seems to work alright, except when I try to upload big pictures (more than 2 MB), it simply doesn't work. PP tried to upload the picture for a few minutes until the connection breaks.
Hope somebody can help me solve this poblem, because I would really like to upload the full size image for everyone to download....
Cheers Emil

2mb? Why that big? That seems awfully large for a photoblog.
Probably there is server issue like max script executation time or filesize limit. Ask your hoster about it.

We have 30MB upload limit on all servers.
But if you can submit a ticket through VIP at: vip.eleven2.com we will be more than glad to look into this for you.
It can be also your firewall, i-net connection or even PP as there were cases when strange EXIF was hanging up whole application. As I remember there is allways case of ping server timeouts - script after upload is trying to ping 2-3 default servers collecting infos about new images on pblogs. There are parts of day when they are higly loaded and it takes moreeee time to get successful ping (and before this 2-3 successful pings PP sometime was trying it too long - longer then max allowed script executation time).
You can try to turn off ping addon for a try.
More or less thats all what I can say now.

I think the problem was caused by the ImageResizeAddon..

What version and what makes you say that?

well, it worked when i didn't resize the pics, except that PP wouldn't generate any thumbnails... i don't know the version thou, as I've upgraded to 1,7 and deleted the old plugin.
I've installed the newest version now (2,08), and I still have the same problem: Them image get's uploaded, but it doesn't get scaled, and no thumbnail is generated... (All thou it is possible to generate a thumbnail by pressing regenerate thumnails under options/thumbnail/)
EDIT: I also tried to switch on raising memory limit, in the imageresizeaddon

Yes, I would be cool to fix those value in the admin panel instead of always chose any options...
When I send picture on localhost I always have to raise memory to 45M if not it fail all the time.

Well that is just plain odd. I know v2.03 was full of bugs as it was the first beta version but 2.08 should be 100% operable. I have not received one complaint about the addon failing to do it's job.
Can you please post the info found within the general info pane within your admin panel.
Thank you.

OK, by the looks of it, all should be well unless the LiteSpeed server has something to do with it.
Anyway, here is a special version to try which will spit out any errors if the upload process fails.
Upload the _autoresize folder in the attached package to your addons/ folder.
Report back any errors if any.

I mean, to instead puting the option yes/no(resize current photo) to the upload image page in admin panel should be great to have these options under addon name dynamically inserted in a DB. to always use the same options value with resize by height.
I just want to upload the picture without having to chose the right option. so that why the option should be set separately under the addon page to always use the same settings during the upload process.
SORRY FOR ME BAD ENGLISH, HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND NOW.

ok, i've tried install your pontificated addon.
But it never fails, just stalls (5 min +) for a very long time.. So I can't post any errors...
munthe

ok, after about 15 min. the connection timed out...
Dkozikowski

If it stalls, stop your browser and try to upload again. Do not wait for anything to time out before the upload procedure begins.
If this continues, the best way to continue would to give me temporary FTP and Pixelpost Admin access so I can make file changes while testing.

I can't even upload a normal sized picture with the addon completely disabled and removed from the addons folder.
And I can't get Pixelpost to throw any PHP errors or warnings because Pixelpost never gets that far. It hangs as soon as you press that upload button.
I'd be curious to see your apache error logs.
Are you still hosting with E2?
Dkozikowski

Contact your host. I can't get a single image to upload. Not even a 1x1px JPEG.
There are some serious issues and I am unable to tell what is going on. Your hosting provider will have more information.
If you do host at E2, have them get in touch with me and I'll work with them to find a solution.

From vip at eleven2:
Emil,
We have disabled all your addons and this works just fine.
I would recommend going through and removing all your addons and re-installing them one by one with the most updated version. This way you can find out exactly what is wrong. It could just be as simple as one of the addons is not compatible with the new PixelPost 1.7
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Thanks,

ok I played around a little today. And found out that even with all the plugins disabled, I still can't upload big pictures (5-6 mb).
Only sometimes the upload process succeeds and a thumb is newer generated.
I posted a support rewuest to eleven2, so now I will just wait and see if they find out something...

5-6mb pictures are ridiculous in my humble opinion. The request could easily time out or consume so much memory it fails.
Why would you even want that? For screen-viewing anything above 1mb is completely ridiculous.
munthe
02-03-2008, 04:58 PM
I totally agreed that for screen viewing it would be ridiculous. But I would like to upload the fullsized image, and then let pixelpost resize. So the viewer can download the full sized imaged if they feel like it.

Your timing out with the memory limit set to 65M ? You probably need more memory then. You'll have to hack the addon to add more.
But besides resizing 5-6mb files, it works fine for 0-4mb photos?
munthe
02-03-2008, 06:26 PM
This was with no addons, and those not the memory raising from the resize addon not applied.
munthe
02-03-2008, 07:11 PM
ok, the thumbs are generated when the imaged are resized...
