In my current blog using folderblog I have about 500 images in my 'photos' file in my directory.I am almost ready to do a new install of Pixelpost, Is there an easy to import them all then go back and sort and tag at a later date or must I start with a blank folder and install them one at a time...
thanks

This would set you up. Why not upgrade?

use the "Copy Folder Contents" Addon of Pixelpost:
Upload/Copy your entire folder "photos" (folder PLUS photos inside) into your pixelpost folder (into the pixelpost root, besides index.php and "images" and the other folders).
Go into your Admin Panel and jump to "Addons".
Give the name "../photos" for upload directory.
You can select if the photos should be displayed by EXIF date (if there is EXIF data in your photos) or sorted by filename and you can set a default category for them (all the same).
All images will be copied into the images folder, thumbnails are generated automatically (without any cropping methods) and the image data is filled into the database. The filename will be used as title.
There is an addon out where you can use a textfile for adding image titles as well, but I don't know if it is compatible with the PP version you are using.
After uploading the whole bunch, go to the Admin page "Images" and Add title and description one by one, re-create the thumbnails and so on.
To tag and categorize the photos, you can use the mass actions provided on top of the images list.
To tag them, you can use the new Tag organizer Addon (http://www.pixelpost.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7449) too.
Just a Tip: if you want to upload 500 images on server, you'd better split them into packages of 50 images or so, otherwise you may receive a script timeout error
