Nested Categories

I have a couple of questions for you brainiacs out there...

I want to setup 'Nested Categories' so that I can.

1. Create a gallery of Photo Essays with each single thumbnail representing a single "Photo essay"
2. By clicking on the thumbnail representing the Photo Essay I go to said Photo Essay and am able to either watch a slide show or click next for the next photo in the essay, but stay in the said photo essay I am viewing.

Currently when I go to a category and select a photo to view it goes to that photo but it is in the list of all the other photos...

Does that make sense? I want to be able to have people go view separate gallery of pictures that are defined as a particular Photo Essay and stay stuck in that gallery until going back to another...

Maybe I am missing something in the logic...

Search the forums, use tags, use another system like Gallery.

Try GeosShowCategory Addon. This makes your visitors stick to a selected category.
But be sure to replace all the browse related tags with those of GeosShowCategory Addon (like previous image, next image, thumbnails etc)

I'm using Gallery2 & there are more options than in Pixelpost, In Gallery2 You can do what You talking about. It doesn't make sense to create from Pixelpost application like Gallery2. Pixelpost is faster thanks to its simplicity.

I had a little trouble finding Gallery2 but eventually found it.

It appears I have to embed Gallery 2 into another application to use it ... is that correct? So I would either embed it into Pixelpost or into Wordpress to use it ... is that correct ... or is there a standalove version of Gallery2 I could evaluate.

Gallery2 does not need to be embedded in another application. In fact, in order to embed it in another app, you first have to install it by itself, then use plugins for those applications to run it embedded.

Hey THANK YOU very much everyone for answering my questions.

I was having trouble with gallery2 website for a while as it was not resolving but now it is and have found all the docs.

I like pixel post alot but Gallery2 looks tremendously more powerful and extendable not to mention all the integration work they have done.

I have started learning Gallery2 and moving everything to that in my projects.

Gallery2 and pixelpost are two different beasts. Gallery2 is exactly as the name suggests, a gallery. Pixelpost is a photoblog. I'm glad you found what you needed but compairing the two is moot.
