Hi !
I installed Pixelpost a couple of weeks ago. Trying now to upload a whole 30 picture series and can't get it right with copy folder addon.
I tried uploading all my images into a /images/ path, tried creating a specific folder and copy the whole folder into images, and indicate /images/myfolder as path and all I get is the title of the picture. How do I get the picture.
I've browsed through the forum, got on one thread that could have helped but can't find it again, went to the Wiki but it doesn't say I could get just an image title, etc...
Help! Basically, what I want to achieve is upload a bunch of pictures and sort them out at work (!) where I cannot upoload. (I use Pixelpost 1.6 but I suppose my problem is not specifically related to that version).
Since my use of Pixelpost is still half-hazard, my site is not visible yet.
Thanks for your understanding and help.

create a folder in your root directory of pixelpost (where index.php is situated) and call it "upload".
Upload all your images into the "upload" folder on your server.
You can rename the image files to the title you want to display but take care not to use spaces or special chars in the title.
As soon as you are done, go to Admin Panel and set the upload path to "../upload" in the Addons page/copy folder addon section.
Select the publishing date (take care to have exif information in your images if you want to use "Publish using EXIF capture date"
Select the category/ies where your images should be assigned to
Press the "Copy Folder" button.
If it is a lot of images it may take quite a long time until the upload is done. You will receive a success message as soon as it is finished and everything worked ok.
Now return to the images page and have a look at the images list. You can use the mass-edit functions to set tags or change categories.

Hello !
Thanks for your prompt answer.
I guess I followed your instructions right, but nothing works : I still get only an image title on a white square;
I was wondering if there was any connection between the /images folder in the admin section and the /upload folder in the addons section ? Or could it have to do with thumbnails ?
In any case, no combination thereof worked, I erased the "images" and "thumbnails" folder with ftp without deleting the index folder inside each... Then I tried to upload an image I had uploaded previously before I got into this "copy folder" business and ... surprise, the image won't show, I keep getting a white square with a number.jpg on it !
Any clue ?
Thanks for your patience...

Please copy and paste the information found within the General Info pane found within your administration panel here.
You can leave out the language file credits found at the bottom of the page.

You are missing the most important information.
I need to see your PHP version, if you have GD Lib installed, etc. . .

no, there is no connection between the upload folder and the original pixelpost folders "images" and "thumbnails". The upload folder just has to be somewhere in the root of your pixelpost document structure and set in the Addons panel.
In any case, no combination thereof worked, I erased the "images" and "thumbnails" folder with ftp without deleting the index folder inside each...
There is no index folder within the images or thumbnails folder, only an index file. This index file is not important or necessary at all, it just prevents the images or thumbnails folder being called directly and showing a list of your image/thumbnails files if your webhoster didn't prevent the displaying of a directory.
Then I tried to upload an image I had uploaded previously before I got into this "copy folder" business and ... surprise, the image won't show, I keep getting a white square with a number.jpg on it !
Did you think of setting the CHMOD of images and thumbnails folder to 777?
Did you receive an error message on upload?
Please go into admin panel, call the page "general information" and copy the information shown there here into the forum (not the list of translators, only the upper part with your PHP, MySQL and installation info)

Thanks for your prompt answers.
Since I am currently at work and cannot access some functions, I'll answer partially about setting permissions.
My host provider does block 777 permissions (it is a free deal provided by the internet provider) but I can get around it with a "sessions" folder placed at the root of the site and/or inside the Pixelpost folder. Keep in mind that I initially uploaded successfully about 15 pictures, one by one using the "new image" window. Things went wrong when I tried the copy folder addon (probably did not then set the right path). After several attempts I ended up with 120 picture names on white rectangles so I used ftp to delete the contents of the images and thumbnails folders. It is then that I could not upload even one image correctly through the usual "new picture" panel.
For the rest of the information you requested, I'll have to get to it this evening, that is, morning to you !
Thanks again !
NB : when I'll be up and running and using all that stuff easily I'll get myself a real host provider !!

what does this sessions folder do for you? Do you have to list the folders with write permission there?
BTW, with some hosters 755 will be fine for writing too.
As already written, check the folder permissions again and tell us if there is an error message when uploading via new image page.
BTW, your evening is my evening too I guess ;-)

Hello,
Sorry I couldn't get back to you but got caught up with salaried work and all...
My Pixelpost 1.6 is working OK since I reinstalled it from scratch... no other solution.
Here is what happened (if that can be of any use to you) :
I probably started out with an incomplete pathname for copy folder, such as /upload. Then I corrected that (after my first mail to you) but it seems things had gone awrong for good !!
I kept getting these white rectangles with only the name of the file on it.
Then I tried erasing those "pictures" from the "images" control panel but though the control panel officially had no pictures in store, the white thumbnails still showed on the site.
Then, through FTP, I deleted the contents of all relevant folders, that is : the images, thumbnails and upload folders, refreshed the pages etc, even turned off the computer and restarted... To no avail, I could not upload (through FTP) even one picture at a time without getting those white squares...
So I deleted Pixelpost from the database (the only thing I know how to do with the database since I've been into this thing of trying to get together a site for only two or three weeks !) and uploaded afresh. It works now.
About the "sessions" folder : it is an empty folder placed at the root of the site and someone told me to put one into each software I have uploaded. All I now is that it is used to bypass the "777" permissions, and it registers each session. Hope it can be of any help.
Thanks again for your help.
Ah, another question : I have mass uploaded through copy folder and some images are not rotated right. What can I do ? Do I have to delete them and upload them again ? I does seem to me there is an addon for this ?
Thank you much for your attentiveness and help !
NB: this writing into English businesss made me forget we were in Europe !

If I create a folder in the root , it come the error message: 550 Permission denied.
I can only create a upload folder in httpdocs, in which the index.php are.
If I take now the path in the adoon ../httpdocs/Upload , it will come a error message: 0 Copied files. Thumbnails are created while copying files with this addon.
What do I have? Or must I use a different path?
Sorry for my bad english, i used google translator to trunslate from german to english

Hi Marcel -
Austriaka listed the correct steps in post #2 of this thread:
1. Create a folder in your root directory of Pixelpost (where index.php is situated) and call it upload. (make the folder name all lowercase)
2. Upload all your images into the upload folder you created.
3. Go to Admin Panel/Addons page and set the upload path to "../upload" in the Copy Folder addon section. (make sure you enter ../upload, not ../httpdocs/upload)
Once you do this, try once again to copy those images to your blog using the Copy Folder addon.
Hope this helps!
