Upgraded to 1.7 - now blank website

I just upgraded to v1.7 making sure to follow the steps outlined at http://www.pixelpost.org/docs/GettingStarted/Upgrade - things seemed to work fine, I was told I needed to disable some addons in the control panel and then I was told the upgraded has finished successfully - and after that, I just get a blank page on both the front page and the admin area - nothing is displayed whatsoever!?!??!

I am no PhP programmer - just relying on what other people have programmed, but I have installed and upgraded my WordPress blog tons of times without any problems, and I figured that if I just followed the steps I should be safe.
Now I suddenly have no website :/

Go to your addons directory and make sure that both theses files have been deleted:
admin_akismet_comment.php
front_akismet_comment.php

Like I said - I followed the steps on the upgrade page - step by step, so those files were gone.

Very strange - I have just copied the 1.6 files back, and that works fine, when I replace those files with the 1.7 and follow the steps again, blank site.

Make sure that your files pixelpost.php have the right info for DB connection

Ok this is now officially weird - tried removing the files as indicated, uploaded all the new files replacing the old, making sure that the pixelpost.php was the one with the right info and then hit the install page again.

This time it does nothing but sends me directly to the admin page - I was thinking "yey!" just until I took a look at my front page where I am informed that the page is not yet configured and there is an error message:

Connect DB Error: Cause #1

Everything seems to be working inside the admin area - but no website to show the visitors?

And now everything seems to be working!?!? Here is what I tried - don't know if any of this affected it by coincidence or if there is voodoo involved :D

1. Deactivated all addons from the control panel
2. Removed all addons that wasn't in the standard installation.
3. Reactivated all addons from the control panel - this caused coloured lines (green and yellow) to appear around active and non-active addons respectively.
4. Shifted the template back to "Simple"
5. Logged off
6. Logged back in - shifted the template back to the custom one I am using.
7. Everything now works.

I would say this is some kind of cache voodoo :)
The green and yellow lines in Addon page are new in 1.7, if you didn't see them before re-activating the Addons, you had the old page in the cache.
I will add the line for clearing the cache in the Upload guide and hope this will prevent others from this issue

I too just upgraded to 1.7.1 and now get a blank website. The admin panel is working fine. All images, comments, and stats are there and current. I tried turning off all addons then back on one by one and still get a blank. (I did delete the 3 addons indicated in the upgrade instructions.) I signed out and signed back in. Is there a possible fault in the index.php file?? The same file works fine on my test server on my laptop. Previously upgraded my test site on my laptop with no problem. Works great. Where is the error?? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

OK, re-uploaded admin, includes, index.php, and templates. Must have been an error in the original upload. Now everything works. No blank website. :-)
