Error on uploading images

I get an error when trying to upload images:

"An error has occurred while attempting to resize your photograph.
Error: Unable to resize photo! (JPG) /back_big.jpg
Error: Failure to write EXIF data /back_big.jpg"

Any ideas? When I look in "General Info, I have the following info containing an error with the image directory. Problem: MY IMAGE DIRECTORY IS WRITABLE, WITH THE UNIX EQUIVALENT AT 777.

Here it is:

Image Directory: Does Not Exist (should be images) - ERROR - Images folder not writable!

You must enter the relative paths to you images and thumbnails folder. These settings are found on your options page.

Set the images path to:
../images/

and your thumbnails path to:
../thumbnails/
