It looks like my comment system is stuck, and I can't figure out what's wrong. When I try to post a comment, I get this error message :
Not Found
The comment could not be accepted because it got flagged as SPAM by our anti-SPAM measures. (ERR: 06).
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request

(fairly new install, straight from 1.7.1, using standard Horizon French template, some comments have already been successfully entered)
Would that have anything to do with the "Maximum time in minutes between opening the comment window and submit a comment" in the options > spam control panel ?

Can't figure out this one.
Sometimes comments can be entered, sometimes, it is not possible and it generates the above message. I've tried Askimet and Defenso without difference, so it must come from PP itself. Any idea ?

The e-mail field in the comment form can only contain a) a valid e-mail address or b) nothing.
If you fill something in it gets checked to see if it is a valid e-mail address. If not, the comment is rejected.

Thanks Dennis. I checked that but it does not seem to be the problem.
I (today) can leave a comment with no problem, but had several people who tried and sometimes succeeded and next time failed (got the spam error message, not the timing message). For example could leave a message on latest pic, but not on the previous one.
Tried different templates (simple & horizon, French and English versions), all with same problem.

Phild, tell them to note down the error number. Based on your post I've identified the error. It sounds like the other people have different error numbers.

I replaced the PP files on the server, and it seems to work now. It was always error #6 causing the problem. Thanks for your help.

Majority of errors are because some stuff wasn't updated correctly.

I nailed down the problem, and there was nothing wrong with the files.
Some of my pictures had (involuntarily) the "comments not allowed" selected. If visitors tried to comment on one of these pictures, the message they got was the spam/error message posted above.
Maybe you should check whether this happens in any PP installation (mine is very standard), in which case it can be considered as a bug because visitors should get a "comments are not allowed for this picture" message, or better not see the comment box at all or be warned at this stage.

Thanks, that is really interesting. It should display the comments are not allowed message.
I'll look into it.
