Disabling comments will only work from the moment you set it. If you really want to stop spam enable the token.

Since you don't want comments you don't have a token in your comment form. So since that is not around it will never match to the session token which is stored. This will effectively trow a 404 error to all the spammers. (And stop comments all together).

So set the option and your set.

Or there is an option to execute one SQL and disable comments for all current posted images :)

I am not sure what you you say enable the token.

I took the link out of my image_template and picked no comments on the control panel comments option page. .. do I need to do something else?

thank you

yes, enable the token protection on the site by going to your adminpanel and setting the token to enabled.

Goto your adminpanel, then options, then spam control

I have the SPAM CONTROL-> ENABLE TOKEN IN FORMS - YES

I was spam free for months.. but as of today I get about 90 SPAM comments. They do no display but they are pending approval and I get an email for each one telling me that.

Anything else I can do to stop the spam attack?

Thanks!!!!

You might need to go set each post manually to no accept comments. That's what I had to do when I noticed that my public development area had 1000 spam comments.

You know there is an addon for that? I believe djwilkinsjr wrote that.

Yeah now that you mention it I do remember someone making an addon to do that, but I can't find it.

It's the Global Comment Settings addon by dwilkinsjr, and can be downloaded from post #2 in this thread (http://www.pixelpost.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7542&highlight=comment+settings+addon).

Shouldn't this addon be in the Extend section?

I wish PP had a version that did not have any code in it related to comments
I can't stop the spam - - getting worse past few days
i never allow comments and do not want a comment option at all.. yet I still have to deal with the spammers...

You'll have to wait for Pixelpost 2.0.
Pixelpost 2.0 will have the option to turn off all commenting functions.
Don't ask when 2.0 will be available though as this can not be answered at this time.

If you wish, I can create a modified Pixelpost 1.71 package with the commenting system completely removed in every way but you'll have to private message me as free time is non existent these days.

I think that is an awful lot for me to ask of you.. thanks for the offer. I wouldn't want to to spend your time on a custom version just for me.. unless others want it too.

I can wait till 2.0 and if it takes a year thats ok. I will have to deal with it.

Thanks,
Joe
