im having an SQL error on my home page
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ASC limit 0,1' at line 1
the rest of the site works fine, for example
http://www.blursurfing.com/index.php?showimage=7
will show the corresponding image
This was a fresh install about a month ago. I should also note that i have not gone live with my blog yet, im still doing testing. So it would not be a big deal to reinstall the whole thing. However i would feel a lot better if i could solve the problem in case it should happen again.
i have searched the forums, and looked in my database (pixelpost_visitors) for any refferer errors. It should also be noted that this happened on the 1st of the month when the stats are supposed to be dumped.
where do i go from here?

Were any addons installed recently?
Log into your admin panel then goto your photoblogs index by following this address,
http://www.blursurfing.com/index.php?errorsall
Remember, for this to work, you must be logged in to your admin panel as this will create the current admin session allowing this trick to work.
Let me know if any other information is displayed on the page after visiting the URL above.

no, the same line comes up
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ASC limit 0,1' at line 1
nothing more, and no recent addons

i also noticed this in my admin, under general info (paths)
Image Directory: Does Not Exist (should be images) - ERROR - Images folder not writable!
You must set correct permissions on this folder or you will not be able to upload any images.
Set the folder to chmod 777 (read, write and execute permissions for owner, group and world).
Thumbnails Directory: Does Not Exist (should be thumbnails) - ERROR - Thumbnails folder not writable!
You must set correct permissions on this folder or you will not be able to upload any images.
Set the folder to chmod 777 (read, write and execute permissions for owner, group and world).
It states images and thumbnails are not available, although they are clearly there and have the correct chmod

I got the same thing. I'm finding this release some issues. I got the syntax error that you mentioned plus some weird behavior in the admin section saying that the folder is not writable even though they are. Any help would be appreciated. My site is at www.brianramnath.com

Hello,
I have to reactivate this thread, because exactly the same thing happened to my blog.
Did nothing and the next day it says:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ASC limit 0,1' at line 1
Really, I have no idea what happened, perhaps you have a hint for me?
Tried to create a new MySQL-Database => no success
Tried to install a fresh PP ==> no success
ANY help is welcome, I'm really helpless somehow...
Thank you
Andreas

My guess would be an illegal referer is stored in the visitors table.

Anybody make any progress on this issue? I am getting it now. Was all working fine last night and no just an error. In the admin panel I cannot see the images but otherwise it seems to look ok. I am seeing the error that my thumbnails and images directory are not writeable and so I changed them from 0755 to 0777. No difference.
Can anybody suggest a next step? I am totally new to pixelpost and appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

Hmm I noticed that nothing was being pulled from the DB so in the admin interface I re-added all my information (including he images and thumbnail paths) on the General - Options tab. I then disabled and reenabled all my addons and it works!
Im not sure what caused it but its fixed for now.

i think i know what caused this as its happend to me a few weeks back....
it happens when you keep yourself signed into admin. Then if you make changes in your options, close your browser, and then "restore" your browser to the last page open.
This somehow erases everything in your options page. I reactivated my site by manually putting all the settings back in.
i have no idea why it happens or how to fix it, but thats what causes it.
I'm having to re-reactivate this thread. Hope someone can help.
Having doggedly persevered with Pixelpost 1.4.3 ( I know, I know) since setting up my blog 3 years ago, I took the plunge this evening and went for an upgrade to 1.7.1
All was going well until I reached step 5 of your guide to upgrading:
Open your browser and go to the following address:
www.yourdomain.com(/photoblog_foldername)/admin/install.php
When I do that I get the following error:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ASC limit 0,1' at line 1
The previous posts mention signing into admin but I can't do that either. Should I just redo the whole upgrade? Or have I messed up somewhere fixable?
