I am helping my mom to Install pixelpost (this is our first time doing something even remotely close to website building) and I have run into a spot of trouble. "Installing Pixelpost in 5 steps" says that I need to "open the file pixelpost.php with a text editor." However, I have absolutely NO IDEA where the file pixelpost.php is. Should it have come when I downloaded pixelpost? If so, what did I do wrong because it did not come with the rest of the files. If not, where is this elusive "pixelpost.php" file you speak of and how do I get my hands on it?
cheers,
Andrew

Installing pixelpost 1.7 is much easier and 100% automated. The installer will create / edit the pixelpost.php file for you automatically.
You can view the install instructions here: http://www.pixelpost.org/docs/GettingStarted/Install

Hi, i have made it through all of the installation screens successfully for 1.7 and am at the finish line where I am asked to login to place the cookie -
I have put in my admin name and pw and nothing happens, I have since requested a new pw (making sure I wasn't wrong there) and the same result occurs.
.../admin/index.php
I am not sure if anyone else has had this problem and I have attempted in both IE and FF as well as on two separate machines to make sure I wasn't having something funky going on. as I assume this is the only way in to set up at this stage I could really use some insight on this one.
thanks
Mike

Try checking the "Log me on automatically" feature when logging in.

that worked by ticking the box, however, I went and changed my password again and attempted to log back in and was unable to and needed to rely on pixelpost to create the pw again and then it worked. So... it appears I am unable to create a custom pw.

you need the box checked, also with your custom password.

I have successfully installed version 1.7, and login to admin. When I tested some uploaded photos I only see my servers intro page to my website

http://lightmatters.ca/index.php leads to a 404 file not found message.
Where is your index.php file?

I know nothing about programming so not sure but I thought it was where it was supposed to be as I went through the install process successfully. How do I find out where it is? (plain language please)

There are two index.php files. One is found in your admin folder, the second is found in the main pixelpost folder.
I suggest re-downloading Pixelpost and re-upload ALL files.

I have wiped and downloaded pixelpost several times and I can't get the second one in the main folder to download.

When you download and unzip the latest version of PixelPost you should have 8 directories and 2 files. Like this:
addons/
admin/
doc/
images/
includes/
language/
templates/
thumbnails/
index.php
ReadMe.txt
Upload all of the directories, including their contents, plus the two files index.php and ReadMe.txt. If you don't see index.php and ReadMe.txt next to the other folders on the server, you need upload it again.
