I know that some of you guys, at least rob is hosting your sites on your own servers. Which sound great... But what i wonder is how fast you uplinks are and stuff... And in that case if there would be any use for me to try... A bit how to, security and stuff...
Just some info would have been great!
You guys rock! :P

I really think having your own server is overkill for most people that have them, when for next to nothing you can have a solid hosting account that is fully managed and taken care of for you...
I run my own server at home networked in my apartment, great for testing and what not...but thats about it.
If you don't know anything about i-net server security - don't stand up any machine to public usage. That can be bbbiiiigggg problem for U and not so small for other i-net users.
I've got only 1.5/0.1875 Mbps (Download/Upload). For my personal use it's enough. I use P2P, @, WWW, IM, but this is too poor connection for standing up stable working WWW server.
The best is to use home machine as test enviroment and buy a fast and secure webhosting account in proffesional company. Nowadays there are quite cheap and give all necessary stuff.
