This addon will output your latest or random images as a single image that you can use as a signature in a forum or elsewhere. You can see a demo in my signature below.
Installation:
Add signature.php to your addons directory
Put the signature directory in your pixelpost directory
Use:
Default:
<img src="http://YOUR-URL-HERE/index.php?output=signature" />
Customize:
<img src="http://YOUR-URL-HERE/index.php?output=signature&show=8&height=50&order=random" />
Use your own values for show(any number), height(any number), or order (random or leave off for latest).
For a link to your site, the HTML would look like this:
<a href="http://blog.kevincrafts.com"><img src="http://YOUR-URL-HERE/index.php?output=signature" border="0" alt="Light and Dark Photoblog" /></a>
Demo:
Pixelpost Forums
The signature directory contains a .htacess file that will rewrite the url for sites not allowing dynamic images for signatures. Instead of the url above, use http://YOUR-URL-HERE/signature/sig.jpg - you can edit the .htaccess file to output the kind of image you want using the parameters listed above.

Hi,
Yaa-hah! Cool. I was hoping my "need" in your Promote add-on my inspire this idea. Thanks!
Sadly, for me, the forum I wanted to use with this with doesn't like the format of the img tag... saying:
"You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board. A valid format is: http://www.domain.com/picture.gif, an invalid format is: http://www.domain.com/picture.one.gif"
Darn. But your add-on works great.

Hi,
Another forum doesn't like it either:
"Sorry, dynamic pages in the [IMG] tags are not allowed"

UPDATE:
I got it working on forum #1 and forum #2. I misread the directions the first time. NOW to fix it on THIS forum. This is cool!

Well, it's outputting an empty image, but it is not naming the file correctly, so perhaps there could be something with your server? Has anyone else experienced similar issues? I'm at a loss of what exactly is happening without access to your server to do any sort of debugging.

I think there is something with the .htaccess file. ?
But how can I change my files so that he use the rewrite function?

It's not just the .htaccess file because I get no image with this url: http://www.mysteries.sohosted.nl/photo/index.php?output=signature

Does this cache the image or create it dynamically every time it's called? If it's not caching it could put some serious strain on your photoblog if you add it as your signature on a heavily trafficked web site.

It does it dynamically each time - I don't know how to cache it, but if anyone wants to offer any assistance with that I would welcome it.

To cache it, simply save the image to a temporary location, and each time the script runs, have it check to see if the saved image is less than 1 hour old. If it is, the script can simply display the saved file rather than generate a new one. Otherwise, if the file doesn't exist, or is older than 1 hour, it can delete the old cache file and create a new one.

It didn't work for me too. Could you please help me? Here is the result of the addon : http://blog.gino-caron.com/index.php?output=signature
The addon seem to work but the HTML code of my homepage is added to the image.
Do you know what is my problem?

That's 2 of you that have that issue, but I don't know how to reproduce it, so I'm not exactly sure how to solve it - if any of the other developers have any ideas I'd like to hear them.

Most of those problems are caused by extra spaces or lines at the bottom or top of index.php or an addon that they are using.

I see Admin Image Statistics Addon (admin_imagestats - version 2.01) has a conflict with this addon, so signature cannt be show as you can see in http://www.reflejandome.com/index.php?output=signature

thanks for your information cryfreeman. i just repair the addon (admin_imagestat) . just delete the extra space at the bottom of the addon. the addon have 535 lines and the last lines (535) the empty space so the conflict was here.

I just updated from 1.6 to 1.7 and now my signature doesn't work. I get this:
http://game-cam.everythingwitty.com/index.php?output=signature
Ideas? I've tried removing "extra lines", but no luck. Thanks!
-Witty
UPDATE (edit): There must have been an extra lines in ONE of my addon's, but I don't know which one. I went through every one of them and removed extra spaces and lines from each... and now, it works. Yay!

hmm, why is mine not working on here though?!?!
for some reason having &order=random in the url makes it just a black image? I have been using this for sometime without a problem and today it has stopped working :(
Edit: it appears to be back, something fishy is going on!!

I can't get it working... I have a lot of characters and the output of the web after it...
I think I have some headers being sent by some other plugin before this plugin is started. how could I change the order of plugins?
a suggestion for signature.
imagejpeg($newimg,"signature/sig.jpg", 100);
change 100 to 80...
80 quality should be fine and will save you a bit of bandwidth
