Unable to Login

The whole installation-process runs without any problems but after the last step, when I have to fill in username and password, I am unable to login to the admin page. It says "Username or Password" incorrect.
I've read most of the threads concerning this problem but none of the possible solutions (e.g. clear cache, automatic log-in et al.) did work. I have installed Pixelpost 1.7.1. a several times and every time the same problem occurs. MySQL-Version is 3.23.58. Thanks for any help concerning this problem!

Did you use any special characters in your username or password? If so try your username/password without these special chars.

Thank you for reply. I did not use any special characters, just normal letters. I tried to install it again using different username and password, but this did not work either.
During installation process I received a hint, that "register_global" is not disabled, but as the explanation below says, that this is no problem, I did not pay more attention to this. Could this be a possible reason?

I tried version 1.6 also and had exactly the same problem.

If I enter the correct password the page reloads. If I enter the wrong password I get the wrong password error as I should.
