So your addon page in your adminpanel has gone blank. This is a tricky issue which we cannot resolve that easily. Let's find out how deep the rabbithole goes. But before we do you have to answer a simple question:
Have you installed a new addon prior to getting a blank page?
If your answer is yes, then remove that addon. See if that resolves the problem. It does? Great, you have found an incompatible addon. I give you know an unlimited license to complain to the author. Happy Photoblogging!
Ok, if you're reading this, you haven't installed a new addon recently and are absolutely baffled why there is nothing on the page. Rest assured. We're just as baffled as you are. However, we do have some tricks up our sleeve.
Here it goes:
The first step is opening the addonpage. I know you hate looking at it in this state but there might be some information hidden in there.
In your addressbox of the browser you'll see an URL. That is the webaddress your looking at. Try appending &errorsall at the end and press enter.
Don't be alarmed of all the output. Ignore anything that starts with warning: or notice:, look for more severe error messages.
That didn't work out, what else???
If this turns up nothing then warning and notices then we have to do something else. Luckily we have some more tricks.
Look at your addonfolder with your favorite FTP editor. This folder contains at least an empty file called index.html with size 0 bytes. This is ok. If it isn't there, that is ok to. No big deal here.
It probably contains some other files, mostly ending with php and some folders. Folders starting with an underscore have a special meaning. They are included by Pixelpost. Make a copy of all the files and folders to your harddrive by using your FTP software.
Try removing the addons one by one. (This can either be a folder with an underscore or a single PHP file in the root of the folder). Check your adminpage. Has the addonpage returned?
Great, you have identified the problem. Contact the author of the plugin, if not, repeat until your addon folder is empty.
Great, I now have an empty addon folder and it still doesn't work???
Right...
Now we enter a different ballpark and Kansas is nowhere to be found. Basically we have no clue about the issue, it could be a number of things:
Bad install of the database
Specific settings by the hosting company interfering with the addon code
The Cheshire Cat might have something to do with it
Fear not, we won't leave you with this issue. You know why? Because we are great guys and gals, giving up our free time to resolve your issue. And we do it with the greatest of pleasure. And the best part? We do it for free!!!!
No, seriously, we can help you. Please send a PM to the following forummembers: Dakwegmo (http://www.pixelpost.org/forum/member.php?u=991), Schonhose (http://www.pixelpost.org/forum/member.php?u=2683) or dwilkinsjr (http://www.pixelpost.org/forum/member.php?u=1312) containing the following
URL to the FTP server
FTP username
FTP password
URL to PHPMyAdmin (or similar DB management package)
PHPMyAdmin username
PHPMyAdmin password
URL to Pixelpost admin
Pixelpost username
Pixelpost password
Why would you need to know all this??? Surely there must be an easier way?
Sadly, no. This is it. We have found we're much quicker to identify an issue when we have full access to everything we need. Sure, we can mail you stuff and tell you where to put it, but it could be a lengthy run trying to find the issue.
Rest assured, we will never misuse your information in anyway. We might share it with members of the Pixelpost Crew if we need assistance in anyway.
Sorry, I don't feel comfortable giving all these things....
Stay in Wonderland, we cannot help you. Sorry.
Any question about blank addons will be redirected to this page unless you have tried it all and need further assistance or clarification.
Don't bother opening a thread if you haven't followed these steps. The thread will be closed immediately when we spot it.
