View Full Version : Future Photos

I've searched for several days trying to narrow this down, so hopefully I didn't miss a post that has my answer.

I recently moved servers and on my last server, I was able to post photos in the future and as long as I was logged in, I could go to the main page (index.php resides in the root directory) and see these photos, as well as do a preview of them from the admin page. Now, on this new server I receive the "Coming Soon! Nothing to show. No image to show here or they are set to show in future!" message. Now, I have a subdirectory with PP installed and future photos show up just fine. Note that the subdirectory which has PP installed is using a different template. Both installs are running ver 1.7, not that this has changed since moving servers.

Based on all of this, I'm still unsure if it's a template issue and perhaps something I inadvertently changed, or if it's something with the server and pixelpost needing something that is outside of the default root directory. Can anyone shed some light on what might fix this? It's not a huge issue for me since PP still runs fine and it only effects me, but I do find it a little annoying, especially since I haven't been able to figure it out.

In case this doesn't make perfect sense, here's a simple recap:

1. PP installation on root directory of server displays "Coming soon" message on all photos posted with a date in the future.

2. PP installation in subdirectory of root, which is a separate installation using the same version, can view future photos without any "Coming soon" message.

Thanks in advance for any insight. I'm sure there is a simple resolution for this.

Check the date time on the server.

Even though I don't see how this would effect the root install and not the subdirectory install, I verified the date/time and they are correct. I also have the correct timezone set in both installs.

I also know it isn't the template, as I haven't modified anything in the admin files and I receive the message when previewing from the "Images" page.

Any other suggestions?

Check if you're logged in at either admin panel.

1. PP installation on root directory of server displays "Coming soon" message on all photos posted with a date in the future.

This is normal behavior PROVIDED you're not logged in your admin panel. This has been well documented as well.

Thanks for the response Dennis. This is the dilemma that I've been trying to wrap my brain around for a few weeks now. I log into the admin panel, go to "Images" and click "Preview" and it automatically gives me the "Coming soon! Nothing to Show" message when trying to preview a future photo.

If I log in to the admin panel, click on the link at the top of the page to load my photoblog, it doesn't show the photos I posted for future dates either. I realize it shouldn't show these photos, unless you are logged in. As you can see, I am logging in. I can close the browser, come back to the admin page and I am still logged in. So, I know it is logging me in. I can do the same thing on a subdirectory install, and everything I've tried above, and it all works like it should.

Thx

Just as a test, try clearing your cookies, and then try logging in while the option "remember me" is checked.

That was one of the first things I tried. I've tried from three different computers, so it's not an issue with cookies. <shrug>
