ERROR - Images folder not writable!

Out of the blue (or so it seems), we started getting ERROR - Images folder not writable! and ERROR - Thumbnails folder not writable!

We checked and chmod the folders to 777. They are indeed writable. Something else is wrong.

Here is what we see:

Guessed imagepath: /var/www//photo-gallery/images/
Configured Imagepath:

Guessed thumbnailpath /var/www//photo-gallery/thumbnails/

Configured Thumbnailpath

Image Directory: Does Not Exist (should be images) - ERROR - Images folder not writable!
You must set correct permissions on this folder or you will not be able to upload any images.
Set the folder to chmod 777 (read, write and execute permissions for owner, group and world).

Thumbnails Directory: Does Not Exist (should be thumbnails) - ERROR - Thumbnails folder not writable!

Language Directory: OK

Addons Directory: OK

Includes Directory: OK

Templates Directory: OK


Is there some place where we can set the image path? It was working and then stopped. Not sure we did anything?

Your configured imagepath should be ../images/ and the configured thumbnailpath should be ../thumbnails/.

Reset both of those on your Options>>General page under IMAGES & THUMBNAILS PATH and save. See if that doesn't resolve the issue for you.
