I want to let people browse through a category, I only seem to be able to get the category up as thumbnails. What did I miss?
Thanks
Vic
For now it is impossible but maybe we will work on it (I'm not sure if it will be usefull for all our users).
If dev team will say it isn't usefull maybe I'll make an addon.

@ GeoS
this would be great, i would love it!
this is what has been on my whishlist for a long time. for instance, i would like to have a category "personal", showing personal photos - nomen est omen ;) - that can be exclusively browsed like a gallery, without always getting lead back to all images.
i think, an addon would be a great idea!
btw, i wonder how this could be done without touching the index.php...

I did this as a modification in v1.3 but I don't like it. it's not in agree with what Photoblog is all about. it is just the behavior of a photo gallery. I won't do that for v1.4:)
you can find the modification for v1.3 in this forum.
It can be only as addon. There is no way to add it to main distribution (it's not common with photoblog conception).

yes, i know. but i think, in the long run, flexibility is what really counts, now and in the future. that's the reason why i liked the clean, modular concept of pixelpost, right from the beginning. just 7 tables in the database, all the features you need most, and a lightning fast performance - this is incredibly nice! layout, functions and additional functions strictly separated - and a small code after all - very impressive!
the future, if we like it or not, is "modular".
i'm deeply convinced, that this is the future for more things than just photoblogs.
flexibility of concepts will be the most interesting aspect for the future.
who cares about if it's a photoblog or a gallery or an art project or a private gallery or just junk or something in between, that you are creating - it always exclusively depends on what is in your mind, what you want to do, and this is what counts.
the software we are using is only a tool for being creative, for expressing ourselves.
in my opinion, the best software will be the most simple and the most flexible one.
let's not discuss, what a photoblog is and what it is not. let's discuss what is technically possible to provide a tool, that inspires you and gives you the flexibility to realize everything that is in your mind.
I wrote that from a point of view as one of developers. I don't want to spend my time on coding futures what are not common with main idea of software or what is unusefull.
There are many other people how can spend their time on doing what they want.
As long as PP is made by volunteer for free it's in our hand what way we want to go with PP.
And as I wrote - there are many other ppl who wants to do it in other way so they should do it like they want as an, sepereated from project, user.

I agree!

yeah that's very cool but that's not Pixelpost anymore. It's very interesting to have something like that but there should be some one to do so. We will be glad if you give ideas or join as a developer or you or someone else start something that cool on the basis of Pixelpost but it is not in the development schedule of Pixelpost.
Pixelpost is going to maintain being the best photobloging tool as well as keeping usage as simple as possible.
In near future PP should be one of the best free photobloging software.
We want to get in main module the biggest powerfull as it is possible, with all common for photoblogs functions but doing it in the simplest way.
Additional power should be in addons. I believe that PP community will grow every day more and more, that some beautiful day it would be enough big group of self working users who would create all this necessary (only for some users) addons.
That's my vision for future of PP.
