size limit on GD

is there some sort of limit on how big of a picture GD will resize after getting all this running I posted a kinda small pic first, and gd seemd to make a thumbnail for it fine. However I took a 1600x1200 pic from my digital camera, and gd didnt seem to wanna make a thumbnail for it. Any thoughts on this ?

why are you posting photos that large on the web?

you can set the size of the thumbnail in the admin - panel, options / thumbnails

the default size is 100 x 75 pixels

and please keep in mind:
the photos which you upload to your webpage should be prepared for the web:

- around 72 dpi / screen resolution (who has a screen resolution of 1600 x 1200 ?????)

- size should fit into the screen
- file should not be too big (loading speed)

you should prepare the images in a processing program for instance, before you upload
there you have control over the quality of your photos before you post

the size of the image should fit to the size which is set for the image in the template, so the browser must not resize the image...
every processing which is done online will result in poorer quality...
