View Full Version : Error when posting image
I have just installed pixelpost, and most of the function seems to work fine. But when I try to post a new image it just gives me big red error box in the bottom. And it just says "Error"
This is the info for the server.

are you uploading a jpg file? what size is the file?
I have tried with both jpg files and gif files, with sizes that goes from 10kB to 200kB
Okay, I tried to add a folder with one picture in it. I just used the addon
Pixelpost Copy Folder Contents ( - version 0.7)
This kind of worked, but it looks a bit weird, there is no thumbnail.
Take a look http://a.impsoft.dk/pixelpost/

so using copy-folder-addon you get the image, but no thumbnail?
using the direct upload, you get no image and no thumbnail?
What is your hoster?
are there any security restrictions?
With the copy-folder-addon, I only get the original picture with no thumbnail. And with the normal direct upload I get a the "Error" box and no picture at all.
It's my own personal server, its running OpenBSD.

did you give a name or number to the picture prior to uploding ?

kalvin: a warning message specifies that this needs to be included if it is not.

Joe[y] will do just fine.
Anyway, back to the matter in hand. Can anybody shed any light on what the copy-folder addon does different to admin/index.php?
I'd look myself but I'm not at home and I'll be damned if I'm looking through them to spot the difference in notepad :P
I'm running OpenBSD 3.3 with PHP5 and the latest Apache2. Pixelpost works!
I had that red error too at one point (it doesn't offer one an explanation). My biggest issue was getting Jpeg support enabled which I finally overcomed using an OpenBSD port for JPEG.
Try to upload a .bmp file for Kix to see if it works.

uni,
the only red error which PixelPost produces, is
<div id='warning'>Missing data<br />
You need at least a title for your image,
and an image. Please note, that no image was uploaded
because of the missing information!</div>
so you can't say it gave no information
so why do we write these warnings in the admin/index.php when you don't read it
<div id='warning'>Error<br></div><hr></div>
Thats the error
did you give a name or number to the picture prior to uploding ?
What do you mean by this? The "Image Title"? The filename?

my friend,
if you uplaod an image, the form asks for
- picture
- title
- description
picture + title is the minimum to uplaod images to this photoblog
so there is this warning if you forget something
that is the red error message
is this so complicated?

@connie: I understand what you are saying but if two users have both said that their warning boxes only contained the message 'error' then are there no other possiblities we can consider>
(to check that you error message code worked i simply clicked upload and the error message appeared fine, as you believed it should... )

I have filled out the form correctly, so thats not the problem.

Okay, the weird stuff just keep on coming. I tried to change the thumbnail options a bit, to "12CropImage" and "75x75". This resulted in this error in a popup, everytime I try to "Post a new image".
"The layer does not exist (cropdiv )-
If your using Netscape please check the nesting of your tags!"
The error is also followed by the infamous "red error box".
The popup and "red error box" is shown in both IE and Firefox.

So did anybody found a solution to this? I also get the same error. Only the "Error", nothingelse. I would appreciate, if somebody can post the solution.
Thanks

I am also getting this javascript error when trying to upload a new image or update a thumbnail. I have moved my stuff from one spot to another seeming without any troubles. I thought I had thought of everything, but now I get this error.
Now I am not sure if it the same server as a split my hosting account and got one specifically just for my photoblog. So maybe it on a different server, but I should still have the same componets as the other as its the same host.
So was there any solution to this? I know for the red error (which I did get) I had to make my thumnnail and images directory writable. and that message went away.

check that includes/12cropimage and all similar files are present on your server.

yeah! I see the error too but somewhere else. If you forgot the title of the post you get the same error and it shouldn't act like that.
for my personal note: This is fixed in CVS version.

extract the file and put all three files inside your include directory

were you guys talking to me about 12image thing? Because those files are there. In fact I found out which file the error message comes from...
line 51 of 12cropimage.js
Would it have to do with GD library? because I notice that it is blank when I look a general info in the admin area. And in the old spot I had the photoblog it said bundled (2.0.28 compatible) with JPEG support.
I ran phpinfo script on both servers and apprently I don't have GDlib on this new account with them. I have sent in an support request. But I am guessing that is my problem anyway right?
Connie

yes, that is the main problem, unfortunately...

Just an update:
My hosting provided added GDlib support to my account and I am not receiving the javascript error anymore.
