Connection error

Hello,

I followed the instructions for installation but on the Configuration screen I get error:

test connection: connection failed!
All other configurations passed.

Followed instructions to download the php file, make corrections and upload. Which I did, somehow the php file is adding a ">" in the password and it does not seem to change.

Using version 1.7.1

Your help is certainly appreciated.

you can edit the PHP file with a text editor (true ascii editor) and save it afterwards.

I'm having exactly the same problem with the current version which I downloaded today. Earlier 1.7.1 version work perfect on the same host (one.com), so does WordPress with exact the same db setting.

There are some strange things going on. The config file stores the password with a trailing ">". Uploading the config file manualy doesn't work either, in that cases the file just gets deleted. I've seen it happen with my ftp client running in the background.

Pixelpost team, are you sure the files haven't been altered?

There is a screenshot (made by someone else) in this thread. I'm getting the same error, while the connection is working perfectly two step earlier.

Editor error

Use only plain text editors not dreamweaver.
Use Notepad++ or Ultraedit

Here is the problem.

When we click on the "test connection" button again, instead of looking at the new pixelpost.php we uploaded via ftp it tries to (unsuccessfully) create a new one and deletes the one we uploaded looping the problem.

As i wrote elsewhere - same error for me. Use Notepad++.

Anything to do with my domain settings? PHP safemode, registrer globals?

I have a workaround

I have the same problem like you guys.

The php scripts that creates the file pixelpost.php adds a trailing > at the end of the database password.

After wasting my time for 30 min I found an easy workaround. Just change your password in MySQL and add the ">" at the end.
