Tell your mom too! v1.4.2 is on the brink

An update for Pixelpost will be expected to launch late this weekend due to increasing issues with the ref spam junk annoying evil robot systems conspiring to ruin our lives as a whole.

We'll be sending out a newsletter to all forum users regarding the issue when everything is ready.

The update is HIGHLY recommended by the staff and hosting providers. It shouldn't be too big of a deal for most though. We'll make it as quick and painless as possible. Sadly, this is just part of the whole application life...*sigh*

Is it just a security / antispam update or have you added some new things? :P

It will be "Just" a security update to stop referrer-spam, but it will bring a new template and some minor corrections as well

Awesome-- I'm suffering for a bad case of referrer spam too. A quick way of fixing it for me has been to use phpmyadmin and run a couple of commands to delete the records of spammers that often pop up for me.
i.e.
Code:

DELETE FROM `pixelpost_visitors` WHERE `referer` like '%spammer.com%' LIMIT 10000;
Where spammer.com is the domain of the spammer. I ususally grab a ton of domains of hte spammers and then run it all at once.

Just thought it might help out some people who have a mysql database thats eating up space with referrer spam.

I can't wait to see this problem tackled as well as how you've accomplished tackling it.

Is the "Ping option" included in this release ?

Connie 07-19-2005 07:49 PM

you could download it and check and you would see: it's not

we need at least some nice things for the next version, which will be a real release update with new features or better functionality ..

so don't demand all our goodies now :| (and don't push us too fast to the next version, we need some relax for new creativity)

yes, try it out, we think this update is really necessar and some small goodies are in it as well beside the security topics:

- new admin section layout
- new template
- no validating errors anymore when using no calendar at all or EXIF-data is empty...

enjoy it!
