are you a guru?

not really an announcement, but...

if you have php, mysql, xhtml and/or css skills...as a reminder, please stick around and help out here.

pixelpost is a completely voluntary project and our dev team is overworked and border-lining burnt out between forum help and future development as our numbers grow here on the forum. we could really just use the community support to keep our forum home kickin.

if you know php/mysql, feel free to look at code, find bugs, and post ideas in the feedback section

if you know xhtml/css or have solid design skills, make some unique templates for people to download and use, it's a great way to get your name out there and feel good about it.

granted its all voluntary and nothing is paid...we do it cause we want to

-------------

also, pixelpost v1.5 is nearing it's beta stage and will be available for public download here on the forum for testing. i'd say in the next week or two you will see it in available for dld. we're having to retweak a few things but once thats over it SHOULD be a smooth ride from there on out.

anything major changing in v1.5 that we should know about? :)

Connie 11-19-2005 07:48 PM

yes, you will see in the very near future! (language driven admin area, configurable admin area, better spam protection...)

some secrets, will be ready soon, we are just finishing the last tests

I'd like to know, too, as I've done some hacking to my current version and it's going to be a pain to replicate (at least the ones that didn't make it into v. 1.5).

tinyblob 11-19-2005 11:08 PM

might be time to start re-writing those hacks as addons, there's a LOT of scope in the addon framework. :)

blinking8s 11-20-2005 01:28 AM

well, it will be in beta and public on the forum long enough for you to prepare your hacks before it goes to final...

overall it's not an insane upgrade, we're slowly cleaning code up though and just prepping for future releases...a lot gos on behind the curtain though

;)

and there will be much more in 1.5! as you will be able to write addons for specific admin pages! sounds good?

i know you guys are busy with the upcoming release of version 1.5 and the plethora of support questions being bombarded at these forums on a daily basis. i can understand that.

perhaps for the year 2006, there's something to re-consider if you have already done so. that is, documentation needs to go beyond what's available on these forums and the official FAQ. a basic wiki page would be a great start, but in the meantime, be limited only to selected individuals of your choice. a weekly and/or monthly milestone would also be ideal. i have plenty of time to contribute, from creating screen shots to step-by-step documentation using a shell or an FTP client. that's the easy part. there just needs to be another common ground other than these forums to really extend and improve the documentation of this much beloved publishing platform.

i'm not trying to undermine any of the effors you've put into this project. i think a lot of forum loafers would be eager enough to help out. if you can assign someone who can overlook the documentation project and designate the duties to whoever volunteers, myself included, that would be great.

what kind of documentation are you lacking? do you want documented code changes in the changelogs?
