Not Displaying Large Photo
Hello,
Thanks for the great code - I was afraid I was going to have to learn Moveable Type before coming across your site. After setting it up, though, I've been running into the same problem despite several different attempts at fixing it. I cannot get the photo to appear above the thumbnail navigation bar. Here's a link if that helps clarify the trouble I'm having: http://www.greentraveler.com/photoblog/ I looked at the demo site's code next to mine and they seem identical for all intensive purposes. I haven't changed anything else in the files beyond permissions and database info...any ideas on a fix? I'm stuck at this point - thanks for any ideas you may have. GT |
The permissions seems to be off with the image.
I cannot look at the image directly at all - it throws me a 403 forbidden message. Check again the permissions for the folder ("images"). It should be owner, group and world with read and write permission. The whole shebang. CHMOD 777 is the cli equivalent. 1. Check the permissions. 2. Upload a new image. Does it work? - Great, if not: Change permissions on a single image already uploaded within the images-folder. Does the image come up now? Let me know how it comes out. // pixelpunk |
It worked!
pixelpost,
You were right...it was the individual image permissions. I was so concerned with the folder's permissions that I copletely overlooked eah individual photo. Everything is straight now...thanks for the help! GT P.S. Sorry for the double post...please erase the first at your discretion.[/code] |

Im having the same problem. I mean, large pics are not displayed unless I do CHMOD 777. Do we have to change permissions on every single image? Beside this feature, so simple, so good. Greetings from Argentina the a** ( ass ) of the world. |

You should not have to do anything with the pictures. That would be ridiculous. I wonder if this has something to do with your webservers not acting like mine when it comes to inheriting permissions. I will look into this, I'll post here when I think I may have fixed this. Cheers |
I thought so, I misunderstud the previous post.
With inheriting permissions, do you mean the pics inheriting the folders permission? I guess so. But, how can I force the server to apply the same permissions of the folder to the pics? .With an htaccess maybe ??? Thank 4 your rapid response. byebye |
I'm looking into this, it must be fixably from the scripts viewpoint.
It would be great help if you can check what permissions your images get. I have not thought about this at myself but looked now at what my files (in the demo for example) has for permissions, and it's 644, so world can view them. Anyway, can you check the permissions on your images files (which are not viewable) and post I'd be happy. // punkpixel |
Can you please download a new admin file?
I can't test to see if it works since my webservers is doing it fine. http://www.pixelpunk.se/software/releases/index.php.zip This should replace the index.php file under the admin directory. Upload a new image and see if that one works with this file. Please report back to me, your help is appreciated :) |
Consider it fixed

GT P.S. Any ideas on deleting empty posts? |

With that file you've just downloaded, it shouldn't be possible to post empty images at all. Test it out, leave out the title or the file, it should not work. To delete the images you just posted, email me and I give you short, easy instructions to do it. Unless you wish to re-build the db-tables :) punk [at] pixelpunk.se |
