Hosting Recommendations, please...
 

Within a week I'm going to move my photos off Flickr and install Pixelpost. Wee!

Currently, my domain is parked at Netfirms. I've looked at Eleven2 and MediaTemple for hosting my site.

I've noticed that Eleven2 works with Pixelpost, and I've heard good things about them. MediaTemple seems very attractive to me, as their servers are fast and the newspaper I work with runs 15+ sites on MT's servers with no problems.

Any recommendations?

I'd use whatever you're most comfortable with.

If you've already had some experience with MediaTemple, and are familiar with their web panel, etc, i'd just go with them.

Both web hosts should have no problem with Pixelpost, so the decision is really up to you.

Just make sure you get a Linux/Unix hosting, not Windows. That would be my recommendation. :)

For every hosting company you will find people with serious complaints and those for whom service has been smooth sailing. So, not only does service vary from company to company, but from user to user. With any host it's going to be a gamble, so just make sure they have a decent refund policy in case you have to dump them.

In addition to hosting on Linux/Unix, make sure the plan includes PHP and MySQL. I ran across a dirt cheap web host recently that didn't include them.
