template concept... what do you think?

hey all... I'm working on a new concept for my blog. I decided to go a 'realistic' route for my first concept... old/stained paper... I've uplloaded a photoshop comp here: http://www.mikelangelo.com/blogConcept1.jpg

I haven't included the navigation just yet...but it was possibly be located on the left hand side or directly under the title of the page.

The paper texture background would tile to the bottom of the page.

Too much? Does it take away from the photos too much? If something like this works... I may rebuild my portfolio site in the same style. thanks in advance.

I always restrain from these "pseudo-ornamentalic-imitating" approaches

This here looks like these design suggestions in easy-graphic-programs...

you merge metaphers which don't fit:

- old paper
- new images

this contradiction could create tension and by that would be a legitime art technique, but this tension is not apparent here

you wanted my opinion
