Dreamhost was my first host, many people like it, Im not with them anymore, if that tells you anything...databe setup was slow, support took up to 24 hours most times, weird control panel setup, I just didnt like it...cheap, yeah...but not worth it for me.

i'm hosting now on dreamhost,in my experience the support time is not slow. it took about several hours for first time (because the time i asked the question they had not started to work), after the first contact i've exchanged email with a supporting stuff for every 20min.

so it really depends, hehe.

slow is anything more than 10 minutes to me though...i just value my money a lot, what i have to spend i've worked hard for and i like hosting that is about the clients.

as blinking said, it depends on your needs. if its a personal site and you can resolve most problems by yourself go for dreamhost. otherwise consider asmallorange.com. I've accounts with both asmallorange and dreamhost and the former is a lot better than the latter

the support at eleven2.com is great and good value as well! Our friends!

the support at siteground.com is extremely good and fast and their offer is great, a lot of value for the money

never never go to olm.net

This is frustrating, because Rodney at eleven2 told me this morning that they consider 90 minutes to be an appropriate response time industry-wide.

My hosting co (icdsoft) has a 10 minute guarantee and has never let me down.

well, ive never waited 90 minutes...but I dont really see the debate that is going on here.

My point was that when I was with dreamhost, it usually took about 24 hours for support, a phone call took even longer sometimes cause they had a call-back only policy, and even as much as setting up a database took up to an hour back then...it was a very impersonal system, and I went through quite a few hosts
