Picture posting, move_uploaded_file

Hi,
Just installed pixelpost 1.5 r2 for the very first time on my new webspace with easycgi.com.

I was having quite a lot of difficulty with an error message referring to a PHP function that was erring: move_uploaded_file

I eventually figured it out. I think my hosting company won't let me chmod files to 777 - too much freedom there. I settled for 666 and things seem to be working much better. does one really need X permissions on 'images' and 'thumbnails' ? Mine seems to be working okay so far with RW.

Anyhow, just thought i'd throw that suggestion out there.

welcome here!

there are many postings here already dealing with this subject,
did you search the forum for this topic?

Please do not throw suggestions before you did not check the functionality completely. PP is meant to be simple but I doubt that you at the very first beginning checked all functionality already

check please;
are the uploaded images in the images folder
are the thumbnails created
are they in the thumbnail folder
are the photos visible in your photoblog in a browser, not only in FTP-program
are the thumbnails visible in your photoblog in a browser, not only in FTP-program
can you re-upload the images from admin panel
can you re-generate the thumbnails
can you import multiple images with Addon in the Addon-Section

if all these are yes, you have a working pixelpost photoblog
but I doubt it

All depends from server configuration. For one CHMOD 755 is enough, for other 666 and i.e. for me it doesnt want to work without 777 (it works but not with all functions).

Hi Connie,
Yes, I did search for the error message that I received but couldn't find a posting with that specific error.

Well i tried all of the functionality, and went through the list that you posted, and my PP works great ! I have been posting pictures and resizing and re-uploading them.

My webhost (www.easycgi.com) does not let me mark folders with chmod 777 permissions. I can understand why, for security reasons. Therefore i must settle for 666.

Thanks !
