image color changes with Safari & Firefox

Hi,
I have a problem with my images that has been bothering me for a long time and I still can't figure out how to correct it.

My photos always look 15-20% desaturated in Firefox as compared to Safari (which looks exactly like the file when opened in Photoshop).

I've tried assigning color profiles to the image, but that does not seem to do anything.

Can anyone help me out with this? http://www.umarshahzad.com/focus
Thanks,
Umar

this is a problem that i have encountered as well. i have a solution that is somewhat satisfying but not perfect.

safari can handle color profile of the images while firefox cannot do that. that is why you notice desaturation with your images in firefox. before you begin editing your photographs, you need to think whether you are editing for web or print. this is very important because of the color space that you need to choose in photoshop. sRGB is arguably the best color space of all and most browsers treat it equally.

the next step is to adjust the color space in photoshop (that is if you are editing for web.) go to edit > color settings. from there change the RGB for working space to sRGB. also change the intent to "absolute colorimetric".

after this change in photoshop, when opening photography you may be prompted to convert the color profile to sRGB (if they are already not). make sure you convert them if you are editing for web.

once the photograph is open in photohsop make sure of the followings:
view > proof setup is set to monitor RGB
and that there is a tick next to view > proof colors.

voila! lol... do your editing and now the colors should match regardless of which browser you are using to browse them.

good luck.

Thanks!
It worked. There's a slight difference still (I'm talking 1-2%, which is to be expected since they are different browsers), although it's much better than before and closely match.

glad to hear that that's what i meant with not perfect. one of the issues that i have with this method is that when i make the changes in camera raw and then open the image in photoshop via the method explained, all the changes that i made via camera raw disappear which defeats the purpose of shooting raw and using camera raw. this is specially annoying because with cs3 you can now open jpeg and tiff files in camera raw as well.
