Yes, one 'can' do this with some CSS (and/or Javascript).
But you can still download the pictures, either way.

It's super easy to do with Firefox.
Go to Tools > Page Info
Go to the Media tab.
Choose the photo from the list, and press "Save As..."

Done. ;-)

I go to photo school, and 9/10 kids as about how they can keep their photos from being stolen...there is no solution, you can make it difficult for idiots though, but that is annoying to most of the users.

a lot of photographers use flash websites based ont he fact they think its hard to steal...screenshots anyone?

anyways, it's really not a big deal, images are going to get stolen no matter...it sucks, watermark them if you are paranoid

but i will look into the empty image replacement for save as, ive working with it some before but i cant recall the exact process off the top of my head anymore

I would also add, don't put high resolution photos out there if you don't want them stolen. The lower the resolution the less likely anyone is going to be able to do anything useful with them.

And, this isn't directed at anyone in particular, but if you use pirated software, watch pirated movies, and listen to pirated music, you really have no right to complain about people stealing your photos. It's karma.
