Updating about me

When I try to edit about me section using the about .html file under template- I open it using text editor on my mac and it gives me a pge but not really in html code. then wehn i change what is written to what I want it gives mt the page in all white and not layed out properly. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Also I wanted to add a contact me tab so people can email me. Thanks.

I'd recommend editing your about page with a plain text editor, such as Smultron or TextEdit.
